BMW Refusing Warranty!!
I brought my car in a couple of days ago for condensation in BOTH of my headlights. They call me back to tell me that both of my seals are cracked and it looks like the car was in an accident [not the case at all] and the headlights need to be replaced. They finally get the car apart and they tell me that something weird is going on and that my lights don't have some kind of sticker with production numbers/dates and the lights look used with scratches and nicks. Again, the advisor insists that my insurance company mustve opted for used replacement parts over new when I was in an accident [never happened!] Since they think these are not my original lights, they are refusing to cover them under the warranty. They ordered the new lights and if they don't look identical, I will have to pay $4,000 for new lights. I don't understand what's going on. My car has never been hit and I'm the original owner.

first of all I wouldn't let them proceed with ordering new lights for you.
2nd get a report from your insurance stating that the car has a clean record. 3rd if it's just the gaskets the lights can be dried out and gaskets replaced.

Call BMW NA directly and insist on a BMW NA representative look into this. I had a paint issue with BMW Roadster a few years ago and the dealership was making claims that my car had been wrecked. I asked for a BMW NA Rep to see my car and he claimed the paint was actually a factory mistake and the repair was covered under warranty.

I called bmw na and they said all I can do is file a complaint against the dealer but they have no say in anything the dealers do.

That is nonsense of course. While it might or might not be true that legally/technically there is not much they can do when it comes to the actions of a dealer, BMW NA has immense influence over BMW dealers if they want to through various mechanisms. BMW NA authorizes all warranty service that is above a certain dollar amount to begin with (I think it is $2k, but I am not entirely sure). If what you are saying is true and that you are the original owner and that your car has absolutely not been involved in any kind of front end collision, I'd escalate it with BMW NA.

I called BMW NA again and they're saying there's nothing they can do. Bmw dealers are privately owned.

wow, haven't seen ya in a while!
sorry to hear about what's going on. bmw na is very hit or miss, and is the case with many other car makes. i think your best bet is to contact your insurance company and obtain records showing that your car was never in an accident. furthemore, if your car was in accident as claimed, then OTHER areas of your car must've been replaced, so have them point out what other parts were done. obviously they wont' be able to (factory/original paint, original parts, etc.) which in that case they should honor the warranty. and if all else fails, go to a different dealer and/or get at lawyer! |

^^^ That is all I can think of as well. Although, it should still have the stickers and everything if she did.
That is crap. I am having battery issues and I better not get something like this! Although I doubt I will since all of my repairs and service happens at the same dealership, they can't claim someone else did anything

NO WAY! THANK GOD I DIDNT GET THE HALOS!!!
Ive been on the phone ALL day. Looks like someone stole my factory headlights and replaced them with junk ones. Thats according to the dealership. BMW NA is sending a rep down to confirm this but its not looking good for me. Ive also involved my insurance company now since they want $4000+ for them. This is unbelievable!!!!! |

They're implying that someone at the bodyshop did so. Which isn't far off. The first place to fix my car a few years ago- the manager got fired for insurance fraud and pocketing money from repairs.

What do you mean a body shop fixed your car a few years ago? Didn't you say your car was never involved in an accident before? If so, why was it at the bodyshop? Were they supposed to fix some other part of your car?
