Just changed plugs, have 2 quick questions...
Car is a 2006 Z4 3.0i (N52 engine)
Should I be concerned with the color on the ends of the two spark plugs? What is the thing circled in the 2nd picture? Thanks in advance, Chris |

Valv-tronic adjuster unit.
realoem Not sure about the plug tips. Could just be normal heat + crappy plating.

The plugs discoloring is normally heat related, could easily be due to age and/or mileage of plugs. An easy way to check is look at your ignition coils. See if you see any pin holes, or excessive cracks in the rubber of the boot, white/brownish spot on the top of the coil, or excessive white power or white lines/spot on the inside/outside of the boot. white spots normally mean "arcing" (chk spelling) around the boot. If there is discoloration at the top of the coil, it's going out and overheating or arcing internally.
note: not trying to scare you, just giving you some information to look at for easy reference  |
