P2297 O2 Sensor Code

Hi folks, during some spirited driving my M with 52,000 miles (100% stock) threw a P2297 code. A search of ZPost turned up no hits for this code. Internet search comes back with a description of "O2 sensor out of range during deceleration". Car is running fine, no change at all.

I reset the SES light and I'll see if it comes back. Thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Here's a diagnostic lead.

Thanks for that. I've had a slight VCG leak on the back passenger corner that I've been putting off to address. I wonder if that's compromised the O2 wiring/connection at all.

Guess you'd have to look? At 50K miles and our car's age a bad O2 isn't implausible.

I read one post somewhere that it is the upper sensors that seem to have a shorter lifespan. Any truth to this as far as you know? I may just replace the two uppers then and start there. They're gonna go anyway soon.

I've put on about 80 miles since I reset it and the error hasn't come back yet. Time will tell.
