Seriously? Do you think you won't sell yours if you tell us where you got it? That's silly.

How does this compare to the aFe, and why did you sell the aFe?

I didn't like the noise and loss of performance with the aFe.

The aFe was too forced, tinny, and didn't seem natural. It was almost annoying.

This is more even, more of a growl than a sharp bark. This is perfect for everyday use and when you step on it.

Because this is an open forum (and not the 'classified' section) where other people may actually want to purchase the product. Even tho I think you're out to lunch with your assessment of the aFe. Anything but tinny sounding and no power loss (your MAF sensor was probably fouled).

Hmmm, interesting. I find none of the above with the aFe. It would be nice to compare both side by side. I find the aFe completely benign until you step on it, and even then I'd actually like it to be *louder* haha.

First of all, I've written my thoughts on the aFe BEFORE I got the Simota...that is why I sold it BEFORE I ever know about the Simota.

Secondly, I'm not bashing it. It's not the sound I'm looking for. You have your opinion, I have mine.

Neither the Simota or aFe sound as good as my Confoti intake when I had my S52.

just not so sure about these "CAIs"
Especially considering the Z4M has "an air filter optimised for perfect flow."

their words.

and you guys that complain about the OEM exhaust?
Needing more oomph, growl or grunt, or whatever...
Man I must be missing something, because when I blip the throttle it sounds like a freakin race car.
And I have the cat-back UUC TSE3 on my 330 sport as an additional reference.

I think BMW M did it all just right.
But then again I always drive with the top down....

Just be happy you're satisfied. Most are not. Enjoy!

Don't know how accurate "most are not" is....
considering the few that complain are online, but those that are happy are mostly silent.

I wouldn't call it a "complaint" so much as an observation. The Z4M is a great car, but doesn't sound like it from the factory. Not to mention that the cans are humungous, bulbous and ugly.

I would say "most are not" is pretty accurate for the forum, and considering the number of forum members vs. the number of cars actually produced, I would guess that the ratio is pretty high. It actually baffles me that there are so many after market exhaust/intake options for the Z4M considering it had such low production numbers and doesn't share those components with any other BMW. That in it of itself is testament to the fact that there is significant demand.

Anyone besides GammaZeta tried this yet?
I'm on the cusp of buying one, but I'd like to get a second guinea-pig opinion on possible performance/SES issues. I hear the MAF can be fussy, but I've had my carbon filter out and my K&N filter in for about a year now without problem.

I have one but it is giving me a hard time. When installed the engine runs rough. the engine lags and the surges and then eventually I get a CEL. I re-aligned and cleaned the MAF with no change. I re-installed the oem filter and everything runs proper. I have since Cleaned the air filter thinking there maybe some oil on the filter and it might be fouling the MAF. I will re-install the Simota intake again and see how it runs.

Some one suggested that there maybe too much air flow and the the engine may need an additional tuning.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
