SPORT Button: What does it do for a E85 M Roadster??
On my E46 M3, the Sport button very noticeably changes the throttle response of the car. However, on my E85 M Roadster, pressing the Sport button provides no change from stock. Is there something wrong here? What exactly does activating the Sport button do on our E85 Ms?

It should be noticeable. It's noticeable on my M Coupe. The throttle is immediately more sensitive. I'm talking immediately.

By not experiencing any change or increase in throttle sensitivity, I have a feeling that my M might have aftermarket software installed that puts it into Sport mode full-time. Does anyone know if such software exist for this car? Car is a 2006 that was purchased 1 week ago @ 20k miles.

All that said, for me Sport makes the car undrivable. Way too abrupt and hard to modulate when you want things to be smooth on corner exits at the traction limit. It does, however, make heel-toe easier. |

Yes, but when u use it all the time and get used to it... Going back to non-sport mode feels like ur wearing concrete boots. I like the sensitive pedal and lighter touch. It's the second thing I do when I get into the car each time.

Like others have said, should be very noticeable. Sounds like something is wrong with your car's sport button.
Ill also join the train of say ing the sport button is worthless though. Makes the car very difficult to drive. Id rather just have it in normal mode and press the throttle according to how fast I want to accelerate instead of getting full throttle at the slightest touch. |

I like the sport button. I don't use it often but I am absolutely positively sure that when I do my gas mileage goes down! The car "feels" faster because you don't have to press the pedal as hard to make it go. My previous car had a very sensitive throttle so I actually prefer the sport mode - however I don't use it often as I find myself speeding far too frequently. That and I prefer the better gas mileage. But I like it and I find no issues driving with it turned on.

On a z4 3.0 I had, the sport button was ALWAYS on, because the car felt slow as balls without it
on the Mroadster, I use it for 5-6th gears on the highway, every single time. The car is too slow and unresponsive without sport mode, in 6th gear

Every little bit helps
I'm not making much torque at 3000rpm in 6th gear anyway. In fact, I wish I could program the sport button to come on automatically the car is in 5th and 6th gears.

Even with the ESS tune, which tames the sport mode quite a bit, I have used it once.

my 3.0si is in SPORT all of the time as well for this reason, and also the electric steering. There is MUCH less bump-steer when in SPORT vs. not. the car is a lot more responsive with it on. you ///m guys don't care about that though.
