52. I sell barcoding and wireless mobility gear for a large distributor. First car was a '69 Beetle, bought with $900 borrowed from my old man. But my high school parking lot was littered with Volvos, BMWs, Benzes, etc. I read somewhere recently that at one time, it had the largest student parking lot of any high school in the country.

Glad that my parents weren't "those" parents - I'm sure I'm far better off having had to work for my cars and other possessions.

65 and retired. I've had many cars froma '64 Barracuda to a '70 Duster 340 to a couple of Fiat Spiders, a Mazda RX7, Camaros etc. The Z4 is the best handling of all of them (the Duster would "smoke" them all in the 1/4 though).

College car was my dad's old 1992 Volvo 960 with 270,000 miles. Still runs today (not extremely well though...need to work on that).

25 here (26 on the 15th, woot!)

I am an Actuary, and definitely differ from the perception... most of the time.

Bought this car right after landing my first job. In college I drive a Honda Civic and in grad school I drive a Civic and a ZX-7R (free downtown parking).

Thank God this isn't the 3er forums or we'd have a lot of "Freelance Gynocologist!" bull in here. Kind of neat to see what everyone REALLY does!

One of my favorite college memories was blasting off for Mardi Gras (during midterms!) in my friend's tricked out '71 Duster. Massively quick but godawful handling, I only got it up to about 120 on the I-10 before the severe front-end wander scared me down a bit. We made it from Pasadena to New Orleans in 21 hours...

OK you youngsters! I will turn 70 in July.

I am retired after 32 years as an Operating Systems programmer for IBM mainframes.

My first car in high school was a '41 Ford business coupe. My car in college was a '53 Mercury Monterey 2dr hardtop, yellow and black, 3 on the tree with overdrive, dual exhausts with glass packs. God I loved that car!!

Happy, healthy old fart who thorougly enjoys his Z4 "Late life crisis car"!

Ha! In three years most of these bright and snappy 20 somethings will be driving mini vans and be commenting on forums debating disposable diapers.

Retired Air force, Aeronautical Engineer and currently a senior manager with A Fortune 500 Systems Analysis Co.

First car was a $100 51 Ford Custom with a slightly modifed engine that would do a very scary 105 top end. No seat belts and a drafting board on passenger side floor to keep feet off the pavement. Sold it for $100 in 1965 and have missed it ever since.

I have a blue collar background and my father ran a tractor repair shop. For most of my life I had access to a base hobby shop so I had never used a dealer for repair beforre the last 10 years or so. Few if any of my cars were sold before they had over 100K on them.

Since there seems to be a spectrum of ages reading this thread, I volunteer to talk about a lifetime of cars.

Hang up here if you are bored!

Will first only talk other two seaters, but I have had 4 MGB's (65, 66, 64, 80), a 55 190SL ( with a removable hardtop with had crank sun-roof) loved it, but a rust bucket, a 71 240Z - should have had one 20 years before I bout this one, a 2003 2.5 Z4 and now a 16K 2006 IL Z4M.

Just for kicks here is my total car list (68 Chevy 4x4 K10 pickup- one of the first years for our typical 4X4 pickups - previous ones had been power wagon/miltary types, BMW 700 engines dune buggy (opposed two cylinder from an Izetta, 71 pinto station wagon (beleive it or not one of the best cars i have owned), 68 corvair wifes dowry - smoke bomb leaker smoke from evey oriface, 71 220 Mecedes loved it. (still have the engine in storage), 72 VW Dasher Hatchback, 65 Jeep Toledo Park Mk1v (one of the last gasp Willy's plan jeeps, a post war Willys MB hunting vehcile, 3 57ish 4x4 Willy's SWs - these were the first true suv's one primary, one hot spares, one for parts, 1977 Jeep Wagoneer, 1985 V6 Jeep Wagoneer, 1987 Jeep Wagoneer, 1984 5.8 Ford Bronco, 1994 5.8 Ford Bronco, 1998 Jeep Laredo, 1997 Ford 350 CC Power stroke - lot's of power mods, 2003 Ford CC 6.0 Power Stroke - kept stock to pull 5th wheel, 2006 BMW X5 (wife's) and about 15 dirt and Street Bikes from a 200cc Tiger Cub to a series of 400 - 450 Huskys (California desert racing life). the half dozen street bike we not exotic and were basically unsafe to drive in NM traffic. Most MC accidents here are others crossing lanes from opposite direction drunk, turning, or asleep, or t-bone while waiting at lights. Just not a safe environment.

The M and the current 350 PS get about the same gas mileage.

Why BMW's?

This time last year, I was Threatening my 40 years of marrage wife with a change of life Harley, when we saw the 2003 Z4 and she forced me to buy it to keep me off the bike. So now I have the super Change Of Life Z-4 M. Since I got the 2003 Z-4 4 others in my fairly small office complex are also driving Z-4s. I can also see a red Z-4M Coupe out my window.

Except for a broken door handle, and tire replacement on the Z-4 I have not had anthing break on any of the BMW's.

Sorry for the long winded discussion, but it may be the last time I can remember back that far.

At my age they say don't pass a bathroom, don't waste an erection, and don't forget to share a memory.

Thanks, DWG
