Damn, In 30 years of driving that may be the worst wreck I've ever seen someone walk away from. That was your extra life - don't waste the next one. In any case, fault is secondary here - just be glad you have another chance at life.

On a different note, I'm curious what canyon road this was on. I've driven a fair bit in the mountains both north and south of the 10 near Redlands and I'm wondering if I've passed the evil turn in question.

Glad you are okay and i bet your family and friends are counting their lucky stars to still have you around after seeing that wreck on the lawn. thanks for being man enough to share your experience with everybody and learn from it

i had a big rollover in my old wrx many moons ago and it looked a lot like your car when it was all over and done, rolled 3 times. amazingly nobody was hurt, but a couple of feet away was a 50 foot drop into the trees and things could have been a lot, lot different. so make sure you appreciate every damn day that you are on this planet! i took a few months off and saw the world, now living in my 3rd country in 3 years and experiencing everything this planet has to offer that i could have very easily missed out on

I don't think you can blame to OP for your insane insurance cost.

First off, insurance companies differentiate the Z4 from the Z4M.
In addition to your info, they also look at the likely-hood of that car being in an accident (altered part by the number of vehicles on the road and the avg. age of the drivers). The Z4M was produced in smaller numbers, plus most drivers are older, and/or it's not their only vehicle; therefor there are probably fewer insurance claims for the Z4M then the regular Z4.

Looking at ZGirl's comment below (who also drives a regular Z4), I'd say it has more to do with the fact that you're in New York, young, and if it's your daily-driver.

I pay $1.5k/year for full coverage on my Z4MC. Going from my '06 330i to the M changed my payment by $12.
