Driver Side Ext. Door Handle HELP!

After several months, I've decided to start working on fixing my exterior door handle for the driver side door. The interior handle works perfectly. I believe it's the bowden cable but I have no idea how it fits in.

This all started last summer actually, when I walked over to my car (I recall it being a very hot day), I lifted up on the door handle and heard a loud snapping sound, and the door handle stopped working.

Here is where I'm confused. When I took out the door handle, this is what I see

However, when I look up threads on how to replace the door handle, I see this image:

I see there's a cable attached to the handle, and going somewhere...but where? And, how does it even attach to the door handle?! As you can see from the first pic of the standalone door handle, I can't seem to see where this cable can be attached to?

When I removed the door handle, it popped out easily. Nothing looks broken.

Please help. Please inform me where this bowden cable is attached to and where I can see if mine needs replacing.

Thanks guys

The 'handle' is only a lever to work the activation mechanism..
You need to access the assembly from the inside of the door.

There are some pictures of this in one of my threads.

Thanks ShipKiller.

But, what is that cable in the second picture? How does it attach to my handle (first picture)?

I will browse through your threads now

The "cable" in the second picture looks like an add-on LED.
Was it from a thread on how to put LEDs in your door handles?

Thats what I was thinking, looks like an LED to light up the handle.
