Guys,

How many of you with the VT1 or VT2 have modified your air intake so that you don't have to remove the front grill and nose assembly to replace the cone filter? I think I saw a post from one of the inmates with a new VT2 setup that had enlarged the who thru the front radiator/frame brace so that the filter and flex hose could be pulled back into the engine compartment.

On a second note, my intake pressure hasn't chnaged since I had my VT1 installed by Goodspeed. Anyone have in hard rules about replacing your filter cone or is it by visual inspection?

I haven't modded that area, but I'm due for a filter wash. I'm also thinking about putting some heat reflective tape on the intake piping, but first I need to figure out how to isolate the hot engine bay air from the air filter.

On another note, I've been running a non-Ess approved main belt for a few months, and apparently its slipping. I took her to the quarter mile track last night, and was only trapping 107MPH, 13.2 was the best run. weak weak weak.

My meth kit's pump is dead, so I'm gonna replace that, and get a new belt.

Then its time for catless exhaust finally, and to start saving up for big-boy mods

Which meth kit were you running? I was thinking about going with AEM for the non-M.

AEM. pumps are a common failpoint. Thankfully, they use a $70 water sprinkler pump

Are you going with Aeroturbines for the exhaust?

j/k, going with Magnaflow resonators, they're quieter

My shop called around, and AA, ESS, and Evolve don't have a 9+psi pulley available. Apparently the vt2-525 kit is 8psi, must be the injectors and tune making the power difference. After my exhaust mods, I should be able to sell my stock section 1 with the relocated 90* bungs, along with my cutouts, and get a custom tune to unlock the full potential of this 8psi kit

not avail for this platform. I think the limp mode issues with prolonged acceleration that people are experiencing at the track might be proof that there's some sort of tuning or hardware barrier with these ESS kits

The good: Secondary cats are gone, and the car STILL sounds like a stock exhaust at idle, and partial throttle. The whole section one is now built out of 2.5" stainless piping. Don't know what resonator was put on, but it looks and sounds stock which is the intent of the build.

The bad: Unfortunately, the magnaflow 10445 were too long to fit comfortably. The 1/8th thread egt bung I bought should have been male, not female, and also I think the car uses 11x1.5mm thread pitch. We took the old one off the stock cats. Also, couldn't remove one of the rear sensors, ripped it out of the cat and it still wouldn't come off, so I need a new sensor (monday). The stock section one's flanges were cut off and re-used, so I think my hacked up OEM piece is not going to pay for my new tune . Car smells funny when standing still.

I think my recently replaced belt tensioner is too weak, and causing significant belt slip. I will contact Tischer and see if I have a parts warranty.

No full throttle runs until I get my new sensor in on Monday. Ironically, the car sounds much better with the exhaust cutouts still in there at partial throttle, but I still want to block them off on Monday until I find a buyer. Overall, the most important thing for me with this mod was power, no drone, and to retain a quiet exhaust, so even with all the "bad" I'm still very happy with this mod.

You can take the cats to a recycler and still get a little bit of $$ back.

Are there any other pulleys holding tension on the main belt, other than the main hydraulic tensioner?

Not that I read. Some guys put a 5mm smaller belt to deal with slip.

Interesting.. I did JUST order a new belt. I'm also trying to see if I can get a replacement tensioner pulley under warranty

BTW, the exhaust shop fucked up my peak recall button on my boost gauge. I'll have a talk with them on Monday, hope they admit it.. its not a cheap gauge

ripped off the top half of the rubber weatherproofing on the button. I guess they thought its a temporary piece. I already contacted Stack about a replacement. Will talk to the assholes about it tomorrow

Of course today they're denying everything. Whatever, I'm sure Stack will send me a replacement cover. Not worth sweating over

I did a few pulls in 4th gear up to about 110mph, and felt a noticeable power gain. Very noticeable torque increase in the midrange. I should have my o2 sensor in today, along with the exhaust cutouts being blocked off, so I'll be able to go full throttle to see the full benefit.

My new belt should come in this week, I'll see if that fixes my belt slip. If not, I'm gonna try to get a new hydraulic tensioner pulley under OEM parts warranty.

After that, time for custom tune
