Quick Bluetooth Easy Question!!

Did all 2006 Z4 3.0i cars sold in the US come equipped with the Bluetooth functionality, including the TCU model, as standard equipment?

I'm inquiring on behalf of a co-worker who has that model Z4.

Thanks in advance!!!

To the best of my knowledge, it was included with the Premium Package or could be ordered. It was not standard equipment.

^^ this is true. It is in the Premium package. If they did not get premium package then they probably don't have it. It was an expensive stand alone option.

If they have power adjustable seats then they do have it, if not then they probably don't.

How can it be activated/reactivated? Recently bought mine and the phone portion on the heads up says 'please wait....'. Nothing.

Most people say you hold down the button on the steering wheel to pair, but for me i had to hold down the button in the center compartment (on the flip down door)

You also need the four-digit code that is printed on a credit card sized card; it should have come with your car's manual.

Its also printed on the TCU module (which contains the the bluetooth electronics) behind the trunk bulkhead. I did not have the card so I had to get the local shop to remove the bulkhead and get the code for me.

Code can also be obtained via a dealer scan. Mine did for free

While on the subject of bluetooth, I think I'll inqure as to the quality of sound and quality of calls using the bluetooth cell interface. My experience, after pairing several cell phones with the hands free cell use, is it is terrible. I'm driving a coupe, and unless I'm sitting still, the quality of my transmission is too poor for people to understand. I've given up on the interface, but have to wonder if there is something amiss with my onboard microphone. Does anyone have a good totally acceptible cell/blue connection?
TIA,
Lew

I have to speak louder than normal but my reception and clarity are good. People can tell when I am talking from my car but they seem to understand me just fine and everything.

I used mine just an hour ago to call the wife to let her know that I was on the way to pick her up for lunch. The system worked fine.

Per Hawkeye's comments, sometimes background noises will confuse the speech recognition system when I ask it to dial a telephone number, particularly when the top is down. But the system works properly most of the time.
