Can Someone Post a picture of thier stock section 1? or any section 1 for that matter

As title states,

I have a Borla V2 Mid-pipe laying around from my M3 that I may consider mating to my MC.

I am pretty sure the first half of M3 Mid-pipe and section 1 of the Z4MC Exhaust are identical. But I wouldn't mind a couple pics or someones input for verification.

I loved the rasp elimination from the Borla. Hopefully I can still use it!!!

so... with some obvious modification, it looks like these might follow the same path...

Now just to decide which exhaust to mate with the Borla mid resonator

No they are different a lot of modification would be required, about the same amount as just making a new piece.

hey you can measure that Borla resonator and I may be able to come up with something for you to use that.

Im not talking about the entire mid-pipe.. on the first portion of it. Basically the first bend and the resonator. Then hack it off after the resonator.

Guess I won't know until l I get the stock one off the car..

I can see where you are coming from, and it may be the pictures playing some perspective tricks on our eyes.

The Headers are identical car-to-car so I know the spacing is correct for the hookup to the header, and the bends are not the same, however it does look like they end up in the same place.

If you look at pictures of all the exhausts out there, it seems like everyone takes that first bend in different ways.

My car is in storage mode now for the winter, so I will throw her on the lift and play around with it. I absolutely love the sound of the S54 with no rasp...

Sorry, let me be more clear, the ONLY similarity is that they both can bolt to the headers, the bend angles are different and the overall length is different, as is the length of each straight section, The ones that are direct fit section ones the 3 bolt flanges are also clocked differently.

So basically you will be able to use the header flanges and a little bit of the straight pipe behind it, in otherwords, nothing worth trying to "salvage".

It might be able to be crammed in there, but it will be easier to just make a new one.

If the size is right you may be able to salvage the resonator but that is about all, I agree with O-cha on this matter.

I am not going to fight you two on this matter now. With your combined knowledge of these cars and exhaust, I will save myself the hassle and just pick up Diokaef's exhaust system when its done

Only reason I knew for sure was I was planning on trying something similar, I was hoping to make one cut and reweld, Yea, didn't work.

LOL, I tried that as well, Did not work, Other thing to consider is the heat transfer to the transmission as well when you move the pipes.

If the size of that resonator allow I may be able to fit on my setup since the resonators are separated from Sec 1, but all depends on the inlet/outlet distance from each other and the pipe OD.

O-cha would you be interested on testing my system on your car? from headers and down? I may be able to setup something with you, and if you get the AA tune you may be able to have them tuned with the exhaust in as well and get some extra horses out of that.
