Autosolution SSK for Z4M
I talked to Ronald with Autosolutions today for about 30 minutes. He almost finish with the final design with a few details to work on. It will go in production around mid May.
Here are some preliminary details. It will decrease the throw ~25%. The shifter height will be same as stock. The initial batch is 12 kits. The kit inculdes selector rod. The production run ends in August. He will decide if it is worthwhile to produce more kits. Ronald will provide pics of parts as it go in production. I will post it here as I get them. The high cost is due to low production number. Please contact Autosolutions if you want to reserve one. I am not affiliate with Autosolutions in any shape or form. Just like to share this with my fellow Z4M owners. Last edited by RobMCoupe; 06-09-2010 at 10:02 PM.. Reason: deleted price |

Is it going to be one of his zero clearance designs? I like the zero clearance but actually have no desire for a shorter throw (but I know hell customize the throw).

Would have been better if it reduced the shifter height as well. But either way it's too exapensive for a ssk.

If the auto solutions one is like their others, selector, linkage and a carrier all zero clearances, then it should be worth it.

Definitely interested.
My UUC Short Shifter is good but nothing amazing. It has this strange issue where when I'm in any of the forward gears other than 1st (so 3rd and 5th), the shifter doesn't pop out of gear, nothing close to that, but it goes in and then if I pull ever so slightly it clicks back about 1/4".

yes. Furthermore the instructions provided are for an m3, not a z4m. Initially when I called up UUC they insisted that it didnt need to be removed and then i finally talked to the owner who admitted that it does. In the meantime the hours added up. Irritating. Further, if you don't put the plastic washer on with the correct orientation then it results in a lot of play in the selector. I ultimately replaced the yellow plastic washer with 2 steel ones and now it is nice and tight. Lock tight is akey ingredient for fastening the cup to the selector.

I like the current height of the shifter with ZHP shift knob. I have Rogue SSK on 99 M3 and UUC on Z3 Coupe. They are OK but want to try AutoSolutions SSK because I hear this is the best SSK. I've been debating on which one to get for the longest. The last I checked, UUC do not have DSSR for Z4.

SSK Installed
I have my SSK installed. After driving a few days, I am very please with it. The throw is shorter than stock. You can actually shift from 3 > 4 with a flick of your fingers. It is very precise as well with no play.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but how much did you get your AS SSK for? I have been trying to contact AS regarding the Z4M SSK to no avail
Are you the only one with this installed in the Z4M? I see you're in the bay area, could we possibly meet up so I can check out the AS SSK? |

The heck...the guy wants like $399+
How'd you get the $350 pricing Rob? lol Also, he claimed that he would have to produce some, resulting in a lead time of a couple weeks before he can even ship it out to me. I thought he made a small batch originally? Seems kind of shady no? Unless there were like quite a few other buyers of these already that we don't know of? |

Yeah I guess what kinda bothers or irks me is the fact that I had expected some to still be in stock from the original run. But that doesn't seem like the case. Unless he's truly trying to make an extra $50 or so.

I contacted Autosolutions if they will consider a group buy. I am proposing 5% for 5, 10% for 10, and 15% for 15. Autosolution have not return my request yet, but like to know how many are interested.
