WTT: my black Z4M stock wheels for your silver stock wheels
Hey guys. Hopefully I've posted this right. I'm the I-can-hardly-believe-it owner of a beautiful 2007 Z4 M Coupe. However, when I bought it, it had a bit of a blacked out treatment. I'm not a fan and would be interested in swapping for the stock silver colored Z4 M wheels partly because the tires are new Pilot Sports so I want to at least use these up. I'd be open to other wheels of the same size that will accept these same TPMS sensors. I keep drooling over some 19" wheel setups but have run 19" wheels on my Z3 and the ride is just too rough for me. These are the stock wheels I'm referring to. Link to pics of mine here. Thoughts? |

I would look into getting your wheels refinished. The chances of finding someone that wants to swap, then the cost and hassle of doing it, only to end up with less than perfect wheels, possibly with curbing/scratches would make it not worth the trouble.

I don't have stockers I wish to trade, but good luck and good choice! Silver wheels will give back some of the form that blacking everything out takes away from the car

Have two front silvers, <fs> on Craigslist
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/wto/5427745190.html Timing... sold off my square set of 18x9 OE wheels a few weeks ago. Ditto on returning to the pretty factory silver wheels. You didn't say if your wheels were dipped, painted, or powder coated black. Unless they were powder coated, you can have the dip or paint removed easily by a good wheel refinishing shop. You might also consider finding refurb wheels on EBay, or switching to 18x9.5" 5 spoke DForce LTW's or Apex or similar that come in hyper silver and look factory-ish in style.

Thx all. My tires are pretty much new Pilot Sports so I plan on running them until I need new ones then I'll buy aftermarket wheels and tires at the same time. God knows how much time I've spent drooling looking at Z4 Coupe wheels on Google images.
I can't tell how it was done but they're not powder-coated and it doesn't look like paint. I guess they're dipped. Are you saying the silver paint will be under the black? |

I wouldn't be surprised, plastidip tends to give a very cheap-black appearance that when combined with heat and brake dust usually ends up looking almost brown, rubbery, and flat.

Like I said, the odds are low but you never know, someone with stock silver might want to try black. |

If they are plasti-dipped the finish would just peel off reveling the original color underneath.

Interestingly, I still have the Z3 that this car replaced. When I bought it, it came with two sets of wheels. I had taken off what I now realize are a set of M3 CSL wheels (because the right front is slightly bent). I just put them on the Z4 this weekend and they look pretty good, though they had been powder-coated gold. Some of the powder-coat is peeling off and I can see the (beautiful) hyper-silver beneath. I may work on getting these cleaned up but the lateral bend in the right front may stop this project in its tracks. I know this is long already but I'm also torn about putting/keeping 19" wheels on as the ride is definitely worse (because the of lower profile tires). Just for some wheel porn and since I've never seen a black Z4 M Coupe with gold wheels: Last edited by DaveJB; 03-07-2016 at 11:26 AM.. |

I have a nice set of stock silver 2007 Z4 17" 5 spoke wheels, with RE050A tires installed that I will trade if you are interested. Rear tires are getting to about 30% though. PM me if you are interested.
