Official Norcal Fall Exhaust Fest II Thread

Time and date are set.

October 5, Alameda, 9:30am.

We'll meet up at the Starbucks (sorry Sean) here: 720 Atlantic Ave, Alameda, CA 94501. http://goo.gl/maps/wYVpy

Leave for the location, West Hornet Avenue, Alameda, at 10:00am. (About a mile from Starbucks). http://goo.gl/maps/IY0X4

Lunch will be at Chevy's in Emeryville. http://goo.gl/maps/TbTsK. Yes, it's the same place as last time. But there's parking, they can accomidate large parties, and we have a chance to do a photo opp just down the road with the bay in the background if we want

Please post and update the thread if you have:
  • Video equipment
  • Microphone
  • Db meter
  • Video editing skills/software

Plans for the day at this point are to have:
  • External standing sound measurements
  • Sample run, with external and internal sound measurements
  • Video of the above (external and internal)
  • Lunch!
Some of these are contingent on equipment and help. We need:
  • Sound metering
  • Video (good mic)
  • Video editing
Smart phones may offer some help (I have 2 sound meter apps), but more precise equipment is better. With video, the camera is important, but that all falls apart without good editing (tools/skills). If you have equipment, or skills, please indicate that in posts.

List of people and availability:

1. Mfanatic (Lon) - 28th or 5th
2. Dorifto88 (Mike) - 28th
3. Finnegan (Ron) - 28th or 5th
4. Skelekitty (Krissi) - 28th or 5th
5. Gferil (Gernad) - 28th or 5th
6. Devious21 (Rick) - 28th or 5th
7. bjbstewart (Brent) - 5th
8. Pheonix - 5th
9. Beta - 5th
10. yousef - 28th or 5th
11. SeanK (Sean) 28th or 5th (he hopes)
12. E8SEHHX (sydney) 5th
13. Cyberkaa (Kalim) - 28th or 5th

End of September is better for me. I revert back to stock exhaust since last meet.

What's your setup look like now Rob? I'm running Euro Headers, modified section 1, rpi scoop and Stromung.

I'm thinking I might swap out the Stromung.

Euro headers, Euro cat, RE X-Pipe, and stock exhaust. I sold my Stromung to put funds toward other mods.

Not like the Stromung? Too loud? I've got my eye on some Eisenmann's, but not sure if that will materialize. second choice, i was leaning toward the Stromung's.

It is not too loud but it is the loudest I can bear. Looks like Evolve air box will happen. I think stock exhaust with air box will sound nice. I'll go with SS Powerloop in the future.

Me and Rob are on the exact same page. If I can find a set of powerloops, I think I'd go that route as well.

I thought the Stromung were really great without headers. With headers, it's about as loud as I'd want but I also get some nagging low end drone between 1k-2k which rattles my skull a little bit every time I take off.

I'll either look for a set of powerloops or try to dynamat and see what DKF has to offer regarding their possible anti-drone product. If I could eliminate the drone, I think I would be pretty happy with the Stromungs.

Thanks - that's REALLY helpful. I definitely am trying to stay away from too loud and any drone, I have to commute in this thing! I have a set of headers that I haven't put on - and may not. I want to start with a good x-pipe and exhaust. Feel like the Eisenmann sport's will be a good fit...

When I'm riding around with the top down, it's not bad at all and I'm pretty damn happy. It's when my top is up and I'm in stop and go traffic (where I'm grinding inside the 1-2k range constantly). It feels like I'm trapped in a box with the exhaust. There are still things I can do to mitigate this, so it's a work in progress.

Keep in mind, I'm very conservative. I just want the tone and minimal volume. When I throw around terms like "loud" and "drone", I ain't got nothing on what the RPIs deal with everyday. My complaints probably seem lame in comparison.

If you come to exhaust fest, we can go for a quick ride and you can check it out.

I wish we had a drag strip closer than Sonoma so we could do some A B comparisons between cars. See what the mods translate to in real world terms.
