03 Z4
OK, my Z4 has hit 70k. The next service check is just oil change and that's about it. At what mileage will I get hit with the full on major service??
Thank You. |

It all depends on what was done before you bought the car. You need a baseline mileage and then go by mileage intervals from there. Do you have the previous owner's service records? Was inspection 2 done timely at 60k miles? If inspection 2 was done at 60k miles then I'd just change the oil every 7,500 miles after that. Inspection 1 is done at 30k, 90k, 150k. Inspection 2 is done at 60k, 120k, 180k. Coolant, gear oil, MT/ATF, air filters and spark plugs every 60k. If previous owner didn't do these items (they are not included in BMW's official inspection 2, but should be done if you plan to keep the car long-term, you should do these right away. Brake fluid change every 2 years. O2 sensors at 100k.
I am in a similar boat as you having purchased mine used. I didn't know exactly what the previous owner did, so I got a full inspection 2, gear oil, tranny fluid, air filters, spark plugs, coolant and brake/clutch fluid change done at 58k miles so I can get a baseline for all future maintenance. Yes, I have all the records from when the car was bought. Always serviced at a BMW dealership. They were Very meticulous about my car. So I was just thinking based on that fact, when is the next Major service?? You know going over the entire engine......

Can you post the mileage and what was done at the last major inspection? It should be inspection II around 60k miles. I just want to make sure they did spark plugs and other fluid changes.
