Custom Coding Complete (M-Track Mode, etc.)

After reading positive reviews of www.codemycar.com I decided to take the leap and got some coding done tonight.

These are the options I had coded:

- enable M-Track Mode
- start car without clutching
- enable one-touch window operation while door open
- disable sidemarker lights
- disable seatbelt chimes
- disable door chime
- enable triple blink turn signals

I'm mostly excited about the track mode and starting the car without clutching. The track mode is obvious, but for those of you wondering about the clutching option, there is a very good, and pretty badass reason for it (IMO.)

I've had a remote start kit on my car since shortly after I purchased it, but up until this coding, I had to choose between having the remote start enabled, and having cruise control usable. The clutch position sensor had to be bypassed in order for the remote start to work, but this causes the cruise to be non functional. Now I can have both, which makes me very, very happy.

As far as the remote coding experience went, I was surprised at how quickly he was able to complete it. Less than 30 minutes total, and everything was done. I'd definitely recommend this company to anyone considering having coding done.

Dumb question, but how do you have remote start on a standard transmission? Do you keep it parked in neutral and hope/pray that the parking brake never fails?

coding the car

A few questions....cost to get it done? What company did you use? Where is it located? Company contact info? Would you be able to code out the tpms dash light? Thanks. Located not too far from you in Chicago, Illinois.

Did you do it remotely or on-site?

I had no idea triple blink was a possibility

I've found several lines of code related to TPMS but so far no luck.
I'm wondering if it's also tied into the DME somehow.

Yes, essentially this. I've had remote start on manual transmissions vehicles most of my life. If I'm parked on enough of an incline that I'd be worried about the parking brake, then I leave it in gear and don't activate the remote start. As far as the parking brake failing, I can't say I've run across that yet.

The cost was $200, which included a refundable $45 deposit for the coding cable that was shipped to me. I decided just to keep the cable for the future. The company is www.codemycar.com. They didn't have any TPMS related coding on their list that I recall, but you could always ask.

The coding was done remotely through VM while I was on the phone with the guy. Very smooth process, he was very efficient.

Yeah, the triple blink is pretty nifty. A nice little convenience feature.

It does a few basic things but is limited.

I've used it to code a few things. The list isn't as extensive as for the newer cars on what you can do but still worth it.

It's essentially a middle ground between DSC on and DSC off. It gives you greater room to play without the electronic nannies stepping in until absolutely necessary.

This list goes into much greater detail: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1034883

Contacted Oke whom I spoke to on the phone. He said he's out of Jersey (gym tan laundry). Seemed a bit busy but stated send him the make, year, model and vin. With that info he can e-mail a list to you of what can be done via coding for your car. Asked about tpms light and he said most cars can be done but needed vin#. Waiting to hear back from him.

Yeah, he's definitely a busy guy running a one-man operation like that. His website has coding lists with all the options for each series of vehicles, as well.

After this discussion I decided it was time to test code on the TPMS.

I updated the old thread on TPMS

Does anyone happen to know the line of code that needs to be changed for starting the car without clutching?

Not off hand, but I'll be coding a couple of things early next week.
I'll see if I can find it.

It may be part of a "euro" line of code as I understand it, it's just n.amer. cars that have this function. (legal liability)

Probably true. I used NavCoder to set my Navi to Euro to eliminate the "Don't program the Navi and crash" warning.

My OEM sun shield must be from Germany.
It doesn't say "WARNING: REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING".

It's in the EWS module (electronic immobiliser system)

PARK/NEUTRAL_EINGANG - Engine start only in park or Neutral Gear.

Change to Aktiv

This also helps for those with clutch stops adjusted to where it's hard to get the switch to engage sometimes.

Edit:
Despite what the code description says, there is no neutral gear start.
This coding is purely a clutch switch bypass.

With this code set actif, the car will start with clutch out regardless of transmission position.
