Mason Clutch Pedal, UUC Clutch Stop, and Clutch Safety Switch Adjustment

http://billswebspace.com/BMWZ4MMEClu...stallation.htm

Clutch Pedal is pricey but worthwhile for the reduction in range of motion required to engage/disengage clutch. UUC clutch stop makes it even better, just have to modify the magnet safety switch for the clutch.

Have not really had a lot of seat time post-install but does not appear to be an issue. I'll provide more feedback after I drive it tomorrow for a few hours.

I just bought the UUC Clutch-stop. I wonder if I'll have any magnet safety switch 'issues' once I take the 1/2" off the bolt on a regular install? Because I'm not running the Mason pedal, I imagine it'll be just fine.

UUC clutch stop (after modifying it to make the threading shorter) is plenty enough to improve the clutch engagement. I honestly don't think there's a need to get a different clutch pedal. I have no issues with clutch engagement. Just make sure you adjust the clutch stop to a point where the car starts up fine, and where you can shift smoothly without any grinding. Luckily for me, the point in which the car was able to start up, was also the point where clutch was fully disengaged and I could shift smoothly.

There might be some differences car to car- with the OE pedal my car would not start with the UUC Clutch Stop, that is why it has been stored in the garage for the past two years and the reason why the Z4 is not listed for this application on the UUC website. Some later model E46 M3s had the same issue. I am not sure if there is a difference between the Z4 and Z4M in this regard.

^ I think that's an accurate assumption.
I'm using the UUC with 2 or 3 washers under it and I have no trouble at all.
( I used washers to set the height instead of the supplied nut)

Here are the specs off the ME website: http://www.masonengineering.net/Subp...W_Products.htm

Specifications : Designed to replace the plastic stock (OEM) clutch pedal which is prone to deformation of the bushings over time. Our Steel Clutch Pedal is designed and hand crafted to eliminate side movement while shortening total pedal travel by 1.5 inches. This helps align the Clutch pedal with the brake pedal to facilitate in heel toe style driving. A noticeable difference in clutch engagement will be felt with the Mason Clutch Pedal.

This Pedal was originally designed and manufactured by Mason Engineering for Dr. Gustav Stroes and has become popularly known as the GSP clutch Mod. Mason Engineering has reintroduced the product after being out of production for a number of years.

Clutch comes complete with new hardware and bushings.

My impressions after a few hours of driving today:

- The shifter action is unchanged from before, no grinding or hesitation to go into any gear- even the 1>2 shift.

-The pedal position is more optimal, 1.5" lower does not seem like much but makes a big difference.

- Because the clutch input piston connection geometry has been altered on the ME Pedal for quicker action, no more long push/pull stroke- clutch is engaged 1-1.5" off the floor and the stroke is significantly shorter.

If anyone local (metro ATL) wants to try it out, drop me a line. This mod, like other mods, may not be for everyone but I like it and feel that it's a worthwhile upgrade. To see the side to side motion that is referred to on various forum threads about this pedal and /or the bushings, go to your car and with your hand try pushing the clutch pedal side to side- mine had a decent amount of play and my wife's E92 M3 has none with almost double the miles.

Your car has been shelved for two years because of the clutch stop?!?! I thought a simple 1/2" cut of the bolt and the inclusion of a couple of washers and bob's your uncle for the UUC's Clutch Stop - "Big Boy" V3.0?
Seems kinda drastic. Although, given your other ride is PIMP and you're not lacking in that department at all.

No, the car has been driven since I bought it- the clutch stop has been shelved for 2 years

I would've bought yours had I known. I think what people are saying is that it's a quick mod to remedy the situation?

It was a pretty quick mod- remove the magnet from the holder and try it in a few different positions so car starts and cruise works, then zip-tie in place.

i just purchased the clutch stop and didn't realize it wouldn't fit. I installed it without the washer and I could not get the car to start. I plan to cut the bolt in half and go from there.
