I did this mod and it took about 15 minutes and I'm not too mechanically inclined. I had a few beers in me, so perhaps that was the reason it took as long as it did .

The sound is definitely noticeable...so much that I think I may put one of the small foam pieces back in. The look on my gf's face was priceless when I stomped on the accelerator in 4th gear. She said the car felt much faster (total BS). Goes to show ya what certain SOUNDS can make someone think.

It does make the car more responsive...don't know why it just does.

Fitted it to my 2.2 and though there was a performance improvement but put it down to wishful thinking but then fitted one on a friends 2.2 which was sluggish as hell before and the improvement was noticable for me and when he drove it too.

It's placebo effect, the increased cabin noise is a definite tease at more "speed"

Im not sure how it works, I have a 2.5, and I was thinking an aftermarket intake would serve the same purpose?

I did the Carbon filter removal but there isn't a tube coming off the rear of my air intake in my 08 3.0i. Sounds like it's going to tear your ear drums out of your head at 6000 rpm anyway.
