Flooded

So car my be totaled.......

Parked at work building next the Jones Falls river in Baltimore and we got 7 inches in 2 hours. I was parked on the 'high side' of the building in meetings all afternoon when a co-worker called and said my car was in trouble. I ran out to see my beautiful 07 MCoupe with 28k miles in water about 4 inches below the window. I ran into the near waste deep water and jumped in all the water rushed in it started and I got it backed up and drove about 10 feet before it stalled. Jumped out and pushed it another 20 feet before some folks ran down and helped me the remaining 50 feet.

I can't believe it either. I'm so sorry hear about this.

It is heartening to know that others help you, but, I'm sure it's little consolation at the moment. I'm also glad you are ok, that sounds like a dangerous situation.

respect for trying to rescue it.... not your fault at all...... GL with all this, hopefully it is totalled as water ingress to this level ruins things and cases major probs down the line.

That sucks... I feel for you. Yours isn't the only Z totaled from these storms. Some guy on FB posted a picture of a Z he saw flooded in a parking garage. :-( Plenty of sad car owners today...

Been there, done that. Car never recovered fully. Very sad to see that. Hope you have better luck recovering yours.

That's painful. I'm really sorry UDM. Did you speak to insurance yet? I'd imagine total loss?

I'm in MD too and the rain yesterday was insane.

At least you can look for another one now I guess?

Just glad that you are ok. Flash floods are extremely unpredictable. Car is replaceable- you aren't.

thanks for the support - we'll see what insurance says but now that it has a flood claim on it if it's fixable I could never resell it (not that I was ever planning on it anyway). At least I made it on yahoo news!

Love that idea! Unfortunately my current financial circumstances will not afford me that opportunity.

I guess the other good news is I didn't get to all of the mods I was planning so not out of pocket as much. So I do have a choice if totaled I have the OEM rims with new OE conti all seasons on them nitrous filled (which are in the garage) or the BBS CH silver 18x8.5 from my old 330ci with Pilot Sports (little tread left) that I had on as temps while I got a flat fixed. Which set is worth more? I thinking the OEM's because of the new tread?

Are you planning on buying it back?

If you are, may want to really think about it. The fact the car stalled is not a good sign. Best case exhaust got blocked- worst case you actually hydrolocked the engine.

Even if engine does turn over, you're going to have a whole bunch of corroded electronics and engine components. If the water got into the cylinders, they will corrode and you will burn a hell of a lot of oil. Not to mention the mold.

I know you love that car, but don't let emotion get into this decision.

You seem to have some great coworkers though!

That is terrible news!

Would there be any point in asking a local dealer to look the car over to see if she can be saved? Its just a crying shame to see this beauty succumb to something like this.
