CA Smog Check today...Whoa!
So, i've been kind of stressed about getting this done because I have a cold air intake, aftermarket exhaust, and the DKF Section 1 with the resonators (no secondary cats). I also have an Evolve tune on. But, the guy I take it too is pretty cool and will let me go fix stuff if I need to and re-test.
One year ago, with the stock exhaust, stock airbox, and stock tune I passed just fine. Not "with flying colors" but was reasonably well under the limits. I thought that with the mods, cat bypass and tune, I'd be in trouble. Imagine my surprise when I get down there and find out he has a new machine that does NOT (i repeat, NOT!) require a sniff test! It is a 100% electronic test along with his visual inspection So, he was kind enough to look the other way on the cold air box, and the Evolve tune didn't trip the system! 30 seconds later, I have a "pass"!! Thought I'd share...may be worth checking into a place that has one of these new machines if you have bypassed your cats...

Yeah its nice to not worry about the sniffer anymore. The problem (if you don't know anyone in the business) is the visual.

Awesome! It is definitely a great idea to to certain shops. I was too lazy the last time and sent to a local smog shop. The freaking guy failed me for having the Afe; had to swap the OEM back in for retest (what a pia). Next time i will only got to my "preferred shop"

Yes, I had considered that but the smog deadline snuck up on me before I had a chance!
