You guys are going to love the mounts, still one of my favorite mods. The throttle response is completely different before/after.

And yeah you guys are right, I posted on the uk forum and didn't get a single response.

It's a shame they didn't let us know earlier they needed a brace for measurement. Beedub could've probably loaned it out during winter while his car was stored.

Beedub stay on them! You're our only hope on that side of the pond. They do want to make us one!

The 3->2 rejection is gone for me with the engine mounts, and 1->2 is easier now. So the theory is that with engine mounts + transmission brace it should be even better (and possibly even cured, though I'm not holding my breath).

But if the transmission brace transforms the car half as much as the engine mounts did, I'd be completely sold.

so just chiming in here after a few months of solid race mount use.

loving them i have 3 track days on them and they're absolutely fantastic still. i'm still not sure why they were discouraging us from getting the race mounts on a car that's daily driven? because they're entirely civil...i really was expecting something teeth chattering.

maybe i accidentally got the road going versions hah!

actually i cant lie.... i dont know whether these have Softened slightly but apart from the slight resonance these are completely streetable, VT are missing a trick not offering these more readily to high power builds, the motor doesnt move the tiniest bit, i love these mounts.... their is defo=initely increase in NVH but its completely acceptable.... what they offer in terms of engine control and shifting is invaluable....

A complete transmission mount (the 2 aluminium brackets) incl the dampening rubber costs less than $75 afaik, so if vibra technics is serious in marketing these parts in an adopted form, the investment in costs to line up their ideas to the original bmw parts is negligible. Running to the store and get them costs more if you consider an average hourly rate for an engineer.
So I don't see why they need a car per sé

actually agree.... dont think the purchase was the issue... it was more putting it on a car and having test data.......

IIRC there is not enough space for their type of mount.
Those OE pucks are not very big.

Luckily there are lots of pu and strengthened rubber mounts available if you have trouble shifting (that's what I read here but I never had that problem though )

You should read the whole thread, that will not solve the issue.

One could argue that if you're driving in a manner that causes mechanical issues then you are exceeding the originally intended driving parameters.

PS. I get the grinding as well and am saving for some of these mounts...

It's not a mechanical issue. The gearbox is solid and the forces have no effect on the gears and shifting forks inside the box. It's a matter of a driver not picking up the tactile feedback that the gearbox provides. That's what you should use to find the gears.
And if a gear is grinding, another bushing isn't going to change the synchro-mechanism in the box itself. You should refurb your gearbox (or replace by a better one) or double clutch or adjust the rev range.
If you're trying to fix that with another stiffer bushing, you don't know how gearboxes work. (nofi of course)

Did they still honor the GB price or did you pay full retail?

Although I agree with you that technique can solve the shifting problems, you should probably read the thread before continuing to post about things we've already gone over.

Just to clarify something to both arguing parties, the gearbox shifts fine if you try to take it's tactile feedback and shift properly, however that fine line of feedback is very volatile when you have soft engine and transmission mounts and you will be required to perform almost flawless technique in order to land a grind-free "quick" shift.

The engine mounts will make your life easier, but it doesn't mean it will not grind anymore. it will if you don't know how gearboxes work.

First of all: "we" haven't gone over anything yet. If you want to speak, do it for yourself!

Secondly: my post was directed to ga41 who made a remark that there would be a mechanical issue and that that would result in grinding. If you'd know how a gearbox works, you'd also know that the grinding is caused by a synchronous problem, not a gear selecting problem. You cannot grind gears if you can't find them in the first place.

Third: You have the opinion that stiffer mounts won't resolve the issue (whatever the issue is; it can differ from person to person), probably because of your info from vibra technics (I think the quoted info came from them). Maybe you are not able to realise that they are trying to sell you something? Another manufacturere might say something different favoring their products?

Finally: what makes you think I haven't read the thread? Somewhere halfway I was posting here too.

Maybe consider the above before you post your remarks for the third time

Did i say there's a mechanical issue that results in grinding? I commented on driving technique. And above all else it was a joke. Lighten up.

You said you get the grinding 'as well'

I know your remark was with some humorous content, but I dont feel beta's is
(the post you quote is not directed to you)

Beta is just trying to silence me (I can't interpret his repeating remarks about 'reading the thread' without clarification any other way) and that is plain rude on a forum.
