missing pre-wire on 2005 Z4
I asked dealer to install an alarm on my Z4 and was told that the factory have failed to install the pre wiring. After an extended period of time the dealer informed me that BMW would go good for the wiring harness. But the dealer said the wiring harness they had been advised to use does not match the alarm kit.Yet the alarm kit matches build date,at that point I felt that the wiring harness was not what would have been installed during manufacturing. After going back and forth to the dealer and BMW,they have both said that if the alarm is not a must have item,do not tamper with your wiring.Has anyone else had this defect of pre wiring not being installed and what was your result.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=130986 You know the installation is pretty easy. Might want to install yourself and save a few hundred. |

I initially tried DIY could not locate wiring ,eventually BMW admitted to missing a number of cars during assembly. As mentioned originally my hesitation in going ahead with new wiring harness is does not match alarm kit. Therefore in my mind the wiring harness in not the right one.
Thanks for the reply |
