Bmw Z4 Is Too Low
I've noticed there is NO ground clearance on these cars. The vehicle is too low. I always have problems going over speed bumps. Even If I drive slow, I get this big loud bang noise. I can't even park my car at certain areas as the entry/exit ground is either too high or low. It scrapes/cracks the bumper. I have a factory 17 inch rims with run flat tyre. I am interested in buying a replica 19 inch M6 wheels. If I fit a bigger wheel set, would that increase the height of the vehicle?

not much if any difference, when you buy larger rims the tires side wall is smaller to compensate. you add much weight when doing so as well.

If you want it to sit higher you need a new suspension. Bigger wheels and tires will mess up the speedo and maybe the traction control.
The non-M Z4 with the sport suspension actually sits lower then the Z4M. Though I'm not sure the sport package was an option the 2.2i

Are you the original owner? Maybe it has lowering springs? Maybe you have a broken spring? If not, maybe you need a different car with more ground clearance?

I'm fairly low but usable on coil overs. I do scrape my mud flaps ever so slightly going over tall speed bumps but other than that for the most part I'm fine as long as I'm careful. Make sure you're taking exits/entries at an angle and really crawl over speed bumps.

Post a photo of your car. If EVO can drive a carbon Zonda across Europe something is wrong with your car or the roads where u live are not adequate for regular cars

How do i check if my car has a sports package? I bought the vehicle from a private seller. It has leather heated seats, automatic top control, 6 stacker music system. All factory.

Use one of the VIN# checkers available at various sites; it will tell you how your car left the factory. Search "VIN check" on this forum.

Even if the car is low, you still need some common sense when driving a "low" car.
For example, approaching low speed bumps at angles to get 1 wheel on the bump before the other...this will help raise the front end to overcome the bump. Just gotta think ahead while driving. |

Those aren't factory wheels, at least not one of the standard options. Looks like it could be lowered a bit, but its hard to tell from that angle. Need a side view with the wheels points straight ahead.

Are you sure? They look to me like original turbine style BMW rims common on pre facelift Z4s.

those are factory wheels. Just learn how to approach things at an angle, slowly. Thats it. Believe me, I'm lower on coilovers and have managed to get around for a while as a daily driver

I've got a Z4 3.0si. I just lowered it even more with H&R coilovers. You do need to take speed bumps slow and at angles. I just drove to Avis rental car at the airport and those "teeth" that keep cars from being stolen grinded up against probably the muffler. :-( I hope that's all it did.

Oh, man! That's lame. I thought I dragged my tips once on a particularly steep driveway exit but I'm pretty sure it was just the rear tire rubbing on the fender ever so slightly since my car was fully articulated from the exit angle. I was going really slow so it sounded worse than it was I guess.
