Let me get this right.... is that the magnet that was destroyed or the magnet did its job and caught all of that junk?

the magnet definitely did its job of catching metal particles in the oil pan. the metal shards are from a busted cam follower and cam lobe shavings from the intake cam.

this was an ECS tuning magnetic drain plug for an audi 2.0t fsi motor.

while you do have an oil filter that will prevent large particles like this from finding its way back into your engine, metal shards like can collect and restrict oil flow in your system... scary stuff.

Yea, I'm liking the magnetic plug idea.
I checked mine to make sure the magnet was tight. Some have had it fall out of the ECS.
Then you need a new magnetic plug to catch the lost magnet

I think I'll get some for the trans and diff at the next fluid change.
