Anyone running LTW5 (D-Force) wheels?
Im deciding between those and the MT1 from Tirerack for track wheels (and daily use for the time being)
Sizes for LTW5 are: 18x9 : 41et (front) 18x9.5 : 35et (rear option 1) 18x10 : 43et (rear option 2) Im a bit skeptical because most people seem to be running an 8.5" front wheel with a 245 tire and a 9.5" or 10" rear with a 275 tire. Im not sure if Id have trouble with a 9" front, and the 18x10" offset doesnt seem aggressive enough... Leaning towards the MT1 for convenience sake but just trying to weigh the options. |

So, I'm lowered quite a bit. No tuck. No gap. It is lower than most. Note that coilovers free up quite a bit of strut-side room up front. I run about 1.8deg camber in the front (on the street) and 1.7deg camber in the rear. So here are my findings...
Hope this helps!!

Wondering if anyone has actually installed LTW5 18x9 255s on front and back with any problems or work arounds on a non-m z4? i'm thinking about getting the wheels and a ground control kit too. either way, i might pull the trigger and hope for the best!

The 9 and 9.5" wheels will work. Do note that none of their 18" ltw-5 wheels meet JWL standards due to their low load rating. Some of the vendors disclose the wheels as "not recommended for street use" and some don't. Do you know what tires you want to run for street/track? The actual tire will have a big effect on fitment as they vary significantly. Also do you have any modifications? There are a few threads floating around about the APEX ARC-8 wheel. You can see varying wheel sizes and tire choices that people have mounted on their M's. For a track setup I'd recommend the 18x9" et42 wheel and the 18x10" et25 wheel. If you add some negative camber to the front in the future, then you can mount up some 255/35/18 r-compounds in the future as the wheels become a more dedicated track set. |

Bumping this up from the grave!
I'm in the market for some new shoes for Bianca. I will be using the shoes as daily drivers and autocross wheels. I plan on as much sidewall as I can squeeze into the wheel wells. I'm coming from a set of ZCP's that were heavy as hell. I like blocky spokes and have been leaning towards a set of Enkei Kojins, like what I had on my 135i. The cost/weight seems right on the Kojins, and I have used them before for the same purpose. Looking at the weight savings from the ZCP's, I'm shaving 12.5lbs total for the set. 18x8.5 20.9 lbs 18x9.5 20.6 lbs (?) Looking at the D-Force LTW5's, I'm cool with the style, but the weight savings is much better for about the same price. The weight saved from the ZCP's is 29.4 lbs total!!! 18x9 17.8 lbs 18x9.5 18.4 lbs So my question is.... Who has used these wheels now (6.5 years after first post)? If you have, what are your thoughts? I know some vendors don't like them, and even my local shop recommends against them, however he's sold a ton of them and never had a single complaint.
