is there anything better than general exclaim?

best tire brand for my m6 reps, is there anyhing better than general exclaim uhps? im looking for resistance against bumps and good grip, there arent any seasons where i live so they will face only dry roads and the ocassional rain.

The only good thing about those is the price, IMO.
But for quality, there is a bunch of better tires out there.
And also it's very subjective. What's more important? Thread wear, dry traction, wet traction, noise... ?

i would say better traction than the generals(so the cost is reflected) and more durability, i mean something better than generals without costing twice as much

The General Exclaim has a 380 tread wear rating and is pretty much the cheapest thing you can buy. If you compare the tread pattern they almost look like all-season tires so I think their catagory of ultra high performance is a bit misleading.

The stock tires on the MZ4 are rated at 280 which should provide better grip than the Exclaims. If you don't put a ton of miles on your car I would search for something with a bit less of a tread wear rating as it will provide better grip.

Well said. People only buy the Generals because of the price really.

ok, any suggestions, as i said i want a really good tire(it has to be significantly better because it cost more=good grip and handling and some ressistance against bumps as well) that wont cost twice as much.thx guys for your advice

Check out this review from Car and Driver. They test a group of affordable summer tires and match them up against the Michelin PS2.

Very suprising results, the PS2s were beat out by a few of the tires. The Dunlop Starspec Direzzas came out on top. A lot of forum members use em. Unfortunately they don't make em in 19s

The star specs are great, my only complaint is they do get loud on the freeway once you have put a few miles on them, but I love them a lot more than the PS2's that I used to run on my 5 series, or the stock conti's on the M Coupe.

The Azeni's are superb.

The 452's are 99% as good for ~70% of the price. I got four 18" tires mounted, balanced and installed for $700 plus tax in LA.

YMMV depending on your driving style.... I make mine sing every day.

I'm rockin a set of Toyo Proxy TR1's. I can honestly say these tires boggle my mind. I cannot possibly (even remotely) get these tires to slip or squeal. It feels like my car is a Z4MC now (maybe more) with the amount of grip and driver feedback.

I know Im probably going to kill myself trying to take these tires up to their limits but I must say Im having a LOT of fun trying until then.
I'm doing about 20-30% faster around all turns at the raceway or street with these then I was with my old Potenza RE750's.
Their expensive (my rears being a 265/30/R19's are almost $800 each landed here, my fronts are $500), but man... its worth it. trust me on that one

You should try the new Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 tires. I've heard very good things about them. The Nitto Invo's are also very good. I have a set of those and after about 1000 miles, they really become incredible tires.

I'm also in the tire quandry soup, and the Hankook's are on the short list along with the Sumotomo's and the F1s. I did, however, enjoy the Hankook youtube video featuring an alpine white z4 Coupe:

assuming you're looking at general uhp's based on price, you should also take a look at sumitomo htr z iii's and the yoko sdrive...

I don't know if they have the your sizes, but the Vredesteins are suppose to be about as good as PS2, last a little longer and about half the price. They're not a big name here yet and the sizes are a little limited, but they're worth a try.

A lot of the M3 guys are planning on getting these tires when the RAC wheels is done.

Ok Finally Im About To Buy The Tires (i Have Serious Issues With Procastinating) Now After Serious Research It All Came Down To 3 Options:
Goodyear F1 Assymetrics
New Hankook Ventus V12
And Those Not So Cheap Anymore Vredesteins.
Any Input On Those Tires?

Just wanted to throw my vote in for the Hankooks. I just got mine on today (for a screaming deal BTW - $75/per after rebate) and I can't believe the difference. The runflats were killing me so I bought some "slime" and these new tires. I drove about 50 miles on the back roads today and can fully attest that these are fantastic tires. Much quieter, unbelievably more comfortable and seemed to hold a corner at least as well as the stock RFTs. They feel a little soft going into the corners, but once you bear down they seemed to stiffen right up and hold the line. Unsure about how long they will last, but at that price, who really cares!
