Tire pressure warning light... brake seized?
Hey all,
I just got my Z4M beeping at me and the tire pressure warning light came on, 5 minutes into a drive. Tire pressure is fine (I checked), but the car shudders and I can hear a rhythmic squealing sound while driving. I also observed that my right front wheel got very hot, so I assume a friction problem occurred. Two questions: 1) Is it possible that my right front brake has seized, and this triggered the tire sensor warning? 2) Can I do anything? Whack it with a hammer to get it loose? |

Seems to be a rare case, judging by the lack of replies.
For posterity: Dealer confirmed my suspicion that the right front brake was seized, and they're going to have to replace the 'claw' (not sure if that's the right word in English). At least it's far less costly than the ABS module that went last year... |

Thanks!
Ironically I have repeatedly found myself at the dealer trying to name components that I only knew the English word for, because of fora such as this one. For instance I knew the word for rotor, but not its Dutch equivalent ("remschijf"). I guess eventually I'll master both vocabularies, when all relevant parts have failed and been replaced... |
