Bought my 2007 M Coupe on 3/3 with only 40,600 miles. Now I have 45k miles. Hah. I just can't stop driving it. It's too much fun!

Good to see so many "high mileage" M's running about. I have a friend that has about 145k miles on his M3 S54 and it still pulls HARD!

German cars properly maintained and not abused regularly go well over 250K The thing that will kill many is rust and accidents !!!

I used to have an E28, and almost always the drivetrain outlasted the chassis... I know of quite a few when I was more active in that community that had 300k+ that had to be taken off the road because the strut towers rusted out....

07 m coupe with 53k miles...semi daily, but starting to move towards more weekend ride.
there are tons of high mileage e46 m3's...some guys have been running superchargers for over 100k miles without issue....the s54 is a great motor(most bmw 6's are) as long as long as you treat it right

2006 M Roadster - 96k, only abnormal maintenance was a cracked diff seal (damn Newport construction crews stranding me in a driveway with a 5 inch lip).
Still runs like it did at 28k miles. |

06 M Roadie, less than 25k miles. Mostly weekends, in good weather and maybe once or twice a month to work and back. Bought it in August 2010 with @ 18k miles on it.

06 M Roadie, 85k miles. Daily driver, 20-25k per year.
Bought in Feb 2011 with 38k miles. Expect to get 200-250k miles out of it. Hey, when you drive as much as I do, you have to love what you drive. |

"Keeping miles off your car to make it more valuable for the next owner is like not having sex with your girlfriend to make her more valuable to her next boyfriend."
The number of low mileage cars here baffles me... paticularly M's. I have owned M models my whole life and drive the daylight out of em! Thats what they are meant for! Ive never had any problem reselling any of them for fair market price... I have also never had problems buying these low-mileage weekend M cars for market price - because that is really what they sell for. Last edited by Z4inAZ; 05-14-2013 at 01:55 AM.. |

Interesting rant...can't say I bothered to read it all. I'm glad you benefit from the fact that I personally cannot drive my M as much as I'd like to. Sorry to disappoint you...or help you...I'm not sure which. Let me know when you decide, I guess. Or don't. Now back to daydreaming about being able to drive my car as much as you think I should while I'm at work...
Edit: To clarify, the above rant (which is no longer a rant) has been significantly edited.

Whew.
I now feel blessed that I have to drive 70 miles round trip to work 4 days a week, and 300 miles round trip a couple or 3 times a month to our tracking station in the Mojave. Heading up there for a late night spacecraft track tomorrow. Nothing like roaring across the desert at 2:00 AM. |

StickMon, you should feel blessed! Everyone who gets to drive one of these fantastic machines should feel that way. Really you are blessed, for a myriad of reasons, so enjoy yourself! Life is short - too short to be parking up a fantastic driver's car like a Z4M.

Im not asking people to drive their cars in the snow, that would be miserable and not great for the car. I am making a plea to those of you who have these cars, in nice climates, just sitting in the garage - to get out and drive them. If you really CANT drive the car for certain months out of the year, so be it! If you are daily driving a smart car because you want to keep the miles off your Z4 so in 10 years when you go to sell it, its worth $2000 more than the other $8000 dollar Z4Ms, then that is silly! Just drive it! Thats what I am trying to say. Yes there are other factors at hand here, but overwhelmingly it seems these cars are weekend toys more than anything else. If I can make one person get outside and drive their car then to me it is mission accomplished. |
