eBay Side Skirt Extensions

I was perusing the vast interwebs the other night when I came across an eBay listing for a set of custom side skirt extensions someone out in California has fabbed up out of FRP:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121726635220...witem=&vxp=mtr

The listing states they've sold one set already; makes me wish I could get in contact with whoever purchased them to get their impressions. I contacted the seller to request more photos and clarification on how they mounted the extensions. Hopefully they'll reply soon.

From what I can see, the design looks fairly decent, though I'm not quite sure how I feel about the flair on the rear trailing edge. More pics would help, for sure.

Anywho, just thought I'd share this with you all. If it ends up being a decent product, it might be something a few of us would be interested in.

Meh, it's less than similar FRP versions for other BMWs out there. Just a bit more than an Mstache, but also more material being used. And as far as I can tell, these are the only ones out there being produced, other than one-offs like the ones Dubsesd had made up.

I'm hoping I can get some good communication set up with whoever makes them, maybe even get him to open up a dialogue on here.

Otherwise, someone (probably me,) will likely end up just biting the bullet and ordering a set to see how they are.

I recon it looks alright, all depends on what size wheels and tires your running on how it will look. Go for it mate, it will only be a couple of screws that go into the bottom of the skirt.

Sweet.

Esp if they had this in carbon, id go for it

So far it only looks to be available in FRP. I'm just happy to see someone finally making something like this for our vehicles. I have the aero skirts, so I think it would look even better than on the standard ones, but there's only one way to find out.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the guy/guys making them; hopefully they'll open up a line of dialogue on here for anyone that might be interested.

Are you going for actual aero functionality, or just aesthetics? And what material are you thinking?

This is why the forum is great; 10 years give or take since our cars were produced, and members still come up with new options and ideas.

Working on aero pkg over the next month or so, will post up some progress pics along the way.

My sills are the stock ones, at some point I'm going to need someone with aero side sills for fitment.

I'll start a thread when I have something to show.

Front will definitely be for functional aero.
I've played with functional sides already, they don't have much functional impact.
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ghlight=Autumn
these will be mainly for show & to tie the front and back together.
They will be a 3D shape, not just a flat under tray.

I'll get more into materials later..
- not CF
- not plastic
- not molded frp

Sounds like you've already put a good deal of thought and planning into it; I'm definitely excited to see how this progresses.

Are you planning on making these yourself, or using a company like APR to produce them?

Will be producing them myself.
That's one of the other reasons for the garage reno this year.

Nice! Sounds like you're going to have a busy year ahead of you.

Shame I don't live closer, I'd gladly let you use my car for fitment/testing with the aero sides.

There was somebody that did a pretty extensive write up for their 3series and the end result looked pretty good. I believe there are also cf universals that would require some cutting and drilling to work, but would definitely be in for a bolt on

I considered trying out a universal, but that's just more effort than I want to put in with the additional cutting. Plus, I don't have access to the appropriate tools/workspace to make modifications like that. Hopefully the project inTgr8r is working on will be successful and be completed before too long. Otherwise, I might end up being tempted enough to pull the trigger on the eBay set.

Well, I managed to do some digging around, and it looks like the company making these side skirt extensions is Prodigy Spec Automotive. I sent them a message on Facebook regarding the extensions, but based on the fact that they read the message 2 days ago and still haven't replied, I don't think they're interested in communicating. Shame, because they don't look halfway bad.

I also went though their Instagram feed and found a better photo showing the rear side of the extensions while mounted on a vehicle.

Still debating about getting these on a lark. The eBay listing has an option to make an offer, I'm considering seeing if they'll bite on a $350 offer.

I agree. Still no response on either eBay or Facebook, though. Must be too much work for it to be worth it to them.
