Momo Start Racing seats..

Hi guys,

Just after some thoughts in regards to these seats, Looking at ordering them pretty soon, but the width worries me a little at the shoulder.. will these fit in the car? initially was looking at fitting them with no sliders, but after careful consideration, ill need to go with sliders in case my missus needs to use the car.

who to go with for mounting hardware? these are side mounted seats only, no bottom mount. Vac? get something custom made? Initially intending on using the stock belts.

Gotta add, car is not a DD, only used for some spirited driving/track days to clear ones mind.

cheers

V.

I can't comment on the function of these seats specifically, but the Recaro Profi XL's supposedly fit. You could compare the dimensions.

thanks Pokey, great idea, doing that now

info for Recaro SPG

RECARO Styled BUCKET RACING SEATS. Ultra lightweight and strong.
Color - Black
Material - Ultra-soft cloth
BUCKET SEATS "XL"
X-Large Extra Large
***Recommended for waist size up to about 38''

Dimensions RECARO SPG "XL"
Shoulder Width 24.5
Base Width 16.75
Leg Bolster Width 20
Hip Bolster Width 20.25
Height 37.75
Deep 19

----------------------------------------------------

Edit: note: a little annoyed at the conflicting info out there in regards to the Momo Start seat.. some guys are saying its a very narrow fit (36" fits tight) and some guys are saying fits up to 42" waste.. WTH... frustrating as hell..
I am not a fatty by a long shot, but probably 38" loose fitting jeans..

more info on Momo

and BmwZ recaro pole position

Notes:

as BmwZ's Recaro pole position just fits in, nicely, and snugly with the doors, though not sure how low/high its mounted, being 560mills across.. the Momo super cup XL looks like it will be too wide, and the Start will also be a snug fit..

More:

Recaro SPG XL seats

so its coming down to these 2

Momo Start or the Recaro SPG XL... bloody hell

my pref is going with the Momo, as its FAI approved, the Rec isn't..

============================================
This is getting more difficult than initially thought...
so from the reviews I've read and people comments, i may be too large for the Momo Start.. Mayb be...
the Momo Supercup XL is out of the race as its shoulders are too wide...

id love to get the MOMO Starts, but ill be taking a risk in getting a chair that might be too tight on my butt..

ok, id love to get some advise for people, i realise that actually sitting in these seats would be the way to go, however i don't have access to any of these seats...

well, I've decided to go with the Momo Start, I plan on tracking the car a little more next winter, so this will be a nice investment..

someone here is helping me out gathering all the bits and pieces until i can get Fedex to courier them to my place. (thanks mate

bits and pieces bought so far

1. Momo Start Seats X2 (these seats are FIA approved, and Hans® compatible)
2. Bimmerworld Billet Aluminum Seat Floor Mount Adapters x2
3. Sidemount seat brackets x 2
4. JEGS Performance Seat Belt Mounting Bracket x2

need pax occupancy sensor sim.

Ok, spill the beans mate, what seat did you go for? I was looking at the VAC or shnell plates, but those Bimmerworld ones i was able to pic up as a set for both chairs for 230 bucks.. thats 230 total.

Nope, new old stock. Yeah was pretty stoked too.
I looked at the VAC 90 degree mounts for the seat belt hookup, but they were very steep, as ill need 4. I went with JEGS Performance Seat Belt Mounting Brackets, they are steel, but very heavy duty. Totaled out at about 1/2 price for 4 vs the vac bracket.

The sliders however are a different story, ive looked around and ive ordered one to have a look at. Hopefully will fit nicely together. The slider is 15 inches wide, so not sure untill I put it together, if it matches up. Fingers crossed on that..

why do you need 4??? you only need 2 i think.... one for each tensioner/ buckle?

oh i may need to jump on that deal.... where did you get them, wonder if they have any left? if no ill go match schnell

Well, back to the drawing board. Ian, mind if I ask youin regards to your seat refurb, why you kept leather for the headrest and not alacantara as the rest?
I love your seats man, did you refurb any of the bolsters?

Vanne,
I was going to suggest having your bolsters made bigger if you are just looking for support when cornering quickly.
I had mine done during a seat refurb and are very comfortable and hold me in satisfactorily for the driving I do........looking for twisties.

Personal preference mainly.
I thought it breaks things up a bit and also accents the M Coupe graphic.
This is a new piece of leather that does away with the embossed M logo on the OE headrest.

Yes bolsters were refurbished and reinforced
