I've seen some posts about swapping out dash and center console trim. So I know it's possible but kind of a pain. But does anybody know if the carbon trim is even available? Or would that need to come from a donor car? And how realistic is finding it? I've never seen anyone post a set on here.

Every great once and a while a set will pop up for sale on here, but it's rare, and they get scooped up almost immediately.

You can purchase the set new from BMW of South Atlanta, but the total cost is $1,800. This is the link: http://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/s...rimLevel=11868

I've played around with the idea over the years, but just can't bring myself to drop that much cash on a cosmetic interior item. Maybe one day, when everything else I want to do to my car has been scratched off the list.

Thanks for info! Glad to know they are still available, albeit pricy.

I have the carbon trim. It's nice, but not $1800 nice.
If I had the aluminum and wanted better, I would take them out and wrap them with something creative.
Or maybe paint them.
For a lot less than $1800 you could take them to a professional artist and have them airbrushed.

I second the piano black. That is the trim I wish my vehicle had come with, honestly. I know I could get my wood grain trim painted for just a few hundred bucks, but the time and effort involved with removing the center console piece has kept me from doing it this far. Plus, the only clear instruction guide (the one that was in Italian) no longer has working images, so blah.

Donor car is probably the cheapest and easiest option. Plenty of M roadsters and coupes totaled or converted for track use these days.

I just swapped out my aluminum trim with the oem Carbon trim from another member. It cos time about 1k plus 4 hours to do the swap. Not difficult to do, just time consuming and finicky.

Can I ask you a question,
I'm swapping out my wood trim for brushed aluminum...

Do you know of any instructions to remove the center console trim?

Link...YouTube link... anything

Or if you can message me some quick directions??

Very very appreciated
