Launch Control

Does the M coupe/roadster have launch control? I assume not but it leads to my next question.
If not what is the best way to launch it?

I notice that when idling the car in neutral I cannot rev past 5000rpm, why? Could this be used to assit in having a good launch?

Wait what? You cant rev past 5k? Try putting the clutch in. There is a softlimit with the clutch engaged.

Correct when my car is in neutral it does not rev past 5000rpm. Whn in gear or with clutch in it goes all the way.

Don't know about the M, but a lot of these small engines, 4 and 6 cyl take about a 5,000 rpm drop the clutch to get quickest acceleration. Tough on clutch and transmissions, but that's what it takes.

If you rev over 3k rpms on a launch you're gonna be spinning your wheels like crazy.

The SMG has a launch control but its a waste of time and hard on your drive train. Tried it a couple of times and it just spun the wheels and went nowhere until the rpms dropped off and the tires hooked up.

Well now that i have had the M Coupe for a couple months, I am glad it does not have launch control. Without having the electronics to launch the car means I can feel how the car is responding to every input and be in control of the launch.

I carry out the following steps to get the best launch off the line launch.

1) Sport mode on
2) DSC off
3) Revs 3000rpm (Varies according to surface conditions and depends on if you want to leave the number "11")
4) Drop the clutch
