That piece of kit looks fantastic!

Personally I would love to keep my car NA so this really appeals to me, looks fantastic - just not sure about the price... would be insanely tempting however!

Really cool looking but for that price and the performance benefit I would think the market for the Z4M would be very limited. Too much money for me based on what it would provide.

I don't think the price is that crazy. For the e30m3, its $1000 for carbon airbox ($800 for fiberglass which also sounds great), $1000 for alpha N, $700 to install alpha n, or $2500 for a stand alone uninstalled.

I think a lot of people compare it to a super charger. Its not. Supercharger have benefits but so does a mean NA motor.

Btw, someone mentioned they wanted more power in the middle. All you have to do is shorten the runner length. Maybe Evolve will make 2 runner lengths with 2 materials (carbon, and fiberglass)?

Hey evolve, sorry for side-tracking this thread, do you guys ever plan on making a supercharger kit for our Z4Ms?

I'm not sure. We have to do the E46 M3 first and then we will see if the numbers are there to do the Z4M.

I am one of the very lucky E46 M3 owners who was able to grab a CF Airbox from Evolve Automotive awhile ago. As others have mentioned, this modification isn't for everyone, but well worth it for those who want to maximize N/A gains and driving experience. $4200 RRP sounds like a lot, but when you factor in that it includes a tune, then compare it to either OE CSL or other competitor Airboxes, it really is a great deal!

I have driven extensive miles on both my Airbox setups (stock vs Evolve) and I can say that the car really does pull substantially harder. On top of that, the induction noise is really out of this world. As many of you may already know, Evolve has nailed down the throttle mapping for our cars and makes things incredibly smooth. With the AlphaN, the car feels even more responsive! It literally feels like an old fashioned fly-by-wire throttle. This suits my needs incredibly since I do enjoy the car on the track and heal-toe shifting is much easier!

The Z4M community is already a very unique and small niche of car enthusiasts. This would be a great modification to set yourself even further.

Enough words...here's a couple videos...

My E46 M3: Evolve CF Airbox, Evolve AlphaN, SS V1 Stepped Headers, SS V1 SPipe

Friend's E46 M3: Evolve CF Airbox, Evolve AlphaN, JVT Headers, CPI Euro200R, SS XPipe, RE El Diablo Muffler, TMS Pulleys

How much of a difference would there be in induction noise between this carbon airbox and a GruppeM intake?

z4m alpha n tune with this carbon air box is a great idea......but i don't need to hear it from an e46 owner....i wanna hear from a z4m owner.

we all know how hard the computer is to tune. so until I see a true CSL box with a true Alpha N tune its all hog wash till then

Fair enough.

Considering that this the purpose of this thread is to seek out and gather interest in Evolve actually developing this Airbox for the Z4M, I deemed it appropriate to share what their own Airbox and AlphaN tune sounds like on the S54B32 in an E46 M3. Obviously a different car, but it's still an acceptable way to exemplify what these potential Z4M clients can expect.

I agree and think your post and videos are definately a way for others to get an idea of what Evolve might develope. Seems very relevant.

If I only cared about horsepower per dollar then i'd drive a mustang, corvette, etc.

I drive this car because of the things you can't measure: how it looks, how it feels, the driving position, the sound, etc. etc. So for me a mod like this would definitely be worth the money, to each their own.

I'm considering this too. I want to keep the car NA. The price is a bit steep, but we'll see what my budget is like when/if this goes into production. It's definitely a beautiful piece though.

I definitely hear that. It is definitely a very appealing mod, they price is just a little bit too much for me to swallow personally, though given it includes the tune it isn't THAT bad.

What's rather great to hear, yet ironic, is that a lot of E46 M3 guys said the same thing about the price. In the end, some of those same people ended up buying the Evolve CF Airbox and don't regret it

How would this compare to say the bimmerworld airbox with the CSl style panel filter? That one is just under $3k...

To the best of my knowledge the Bimmerworld one at that price does not include Alpha N Mapping or programming cable.
