Does the e46m3 vs z4m use the same airbox electronics? Is it plug and play, assuming it fit?

What do you mean by airbox electronics? The MAF sensor?

Go here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and find the part number for whatever you're looking for and compare it with the relevant E46 part to see if it's the same part number.
