B&B Triflo on a 2.5? (3.0 & 2.5 differences)

So, to start off, the search function on this site is somewhat.."lacking", to be polite, as we all know. Apologies in advance for a bimmerforums crosspost.

Aight, here's one for ya.

Since Stromung appears to be in no real hurry to set up an exhaust for the Z's, I've been looking around at other noisy options. Not really feeling the full catback Supersprint setup, so I've been looking at other options, namely the Triflo setup.

Interesting bit I've noticed, is that every aftermarket setup lists an application for the 3.0 cars, but nothing for the 2.5. Looking at the exhausts on realoem, the canister design is the same with the mounting points and such. The B&B appears to be a chop and swap with the canister, rather than a full catback, so am I crazy in thinking that this should just be a direct swap, with the only possible differences being pipe diameter?

I figured this would have been a pretty quick answer as to what the actual differences between a 2.5 and 3.0 non-sport exhaust setup on a pre-facelift car would be, but so far I'm coming up with nothing.

Anyone done it?

Dinan's 2.5i exhaust goes for a little less, $699. I doubt it will be as loud.

And Dinan's exhaust is nothing more than a muffler IIRC

Wow, a dinan product being cheaper than something, that's a first.

Interestingly enough, the site shows the same P/N for the 2.5 and 3.0 kit, that's a good sign. Looks like it is an identical tubing setup.
