non-M diff and tranny oil grades

Doing Inspection 2 on my '05 3.0 automatic. Want to do a diff flush and a tranny flush, does anyone know what grade / brand / quantity of oils I should be buying? I've read Shipkiller's very informative pages and wanted peoples opinions on where I should be getting the stuff from and if there are alternatives.

I just went to BMW to try and get the oil for the transmission. They wanted $45.95 per litre and I need 9 litres! Looks like I'll be sourcing it from somewhere else.

There is usually a sticker that tells you what type you need on the ATF and search online. The diff I just used redline 75w90. Hope yours is the same

Here's a diff DIY I used

I bought transmission fluid (ZF Lifeguard6) for mine from CTSC.

It's a lot cheaper than dealer.

I did a lot of reading about which ATF to use. There are some compatible ATF which are cheaper than lifeguard. But I did not want to take any chance on my expensive tranny over few dollars. So went with OEM fluid.

Redline ATF D4 is cheaper option but people's opinion seems vary. If you are going to use non - OEM fluid, I would do the complete flush not just drain and refill.

BTW if you are going to do just drain and refill, you dont need 9 liters. 6 liters seems enough.
