UUC DSSR Z4M Help

Hello all,

I installed the uuc ssk with no issues. I then proceeded to try to install the dssr. No dice. There is not enough clearance between the carrier and the dssr and it binds. I check to make sure I had the right part and I do. I know there have been similar issues with other folks. I was wondering what the remedy ended up being. Going back to the stock dssr, grinding down the uuc dssr, or bending it. Obviously grinding it may change the integrity of the product. Bending it may change the shift throw. Has anyone had experience with this? Did UUC get them the right part or did you have to modify existing. If so, how?

I have searched the forum and folks say they modified, but do not say how.

Thanks!

I had to return mine. My shop did the install and called UUC and was told to bend or grind it but they didn't think that was a good idea mainly because you pay a bunch of money for a metal rod, it shouldn't require modification. UUC knows the DSSR doesn't fit all Z4Ms but they don't mention that it may be an issue.

I sent it back to UUC to reduce the bend. Everything fits now.

UUC didn't give me that option. Just a bunch of grief about returning it. One more reason I won't be buying anything else from them. Glad it worked out for you.

I will say that for as much trouble as it was, it was one of the best upgrades to date. I am not sure if it is the SSK or the SSK + the DSSR, but the shift feel has drastically improved. There was too much side to side play in my stock setup. I love the positive short throws in the new SSK and DSSR. So warning, it may not be plug in play, but I am glad I stuck with it and saw it through.

If there is another option for an SSK and DSSR than UUC, I strongly recommend going that route. It was a nightmare dealing with installation and UUC. SSK was mis-assembled and DSSR did not fit as others have indicated. Not very interested in helping solve the problem without numerous phone calls. Never available to answer the phone and return a call, forget it. Some of the worst customer service. Ever!

BTW, to answer your question, we bent the DSSR to fit.

I believe there are two other options that I know of. I have heard the autosolutions is awesome. I didn't have any trouble with the ssk, only the dssr. They responded and worked with me. Maybe they have taken the feedback and improved. It was a hassle to be sure. But in the end I am glad I did it.
