Z4M VANOS Failure?

Anyone heard about vanos failures in the Z4Ms?

2 weeks ago I was at a stop light and then all of a sudden the car would run very rough. the engine was about to get stalled and had very poor throttle response. So I dropped the car off the dealer and when I got my car back and they said they had to replace the vanos. something to do with teeth being broken and they had to clean the oil pan because of metal debris etc.etc.
I thought this problem was only related to early E46 M3s?

Sticking is normal, catastrophic failure is not.

which dealership did you go to void. im surprised they stood by the warranty with your mods. (intake)

fairfax. I was also worried about the intake but they had no issue about it.
