you will need 10mm spacers for the rear and it will still look sunken in w/those dimensions.

Ideal offset for rear wheels around 9-10" is +20/+25.
9" with +40 will be worse than stock. Stock is +32 i think.

stock is 30
Im thinking of using spacers on a 40 wheel (OZ) to get to 28. I would like to here more about what people are running in the rears. Im going to do a 18x9 OZ wheel with 40 offset then a 12mm spacer = (28), running a 275/35 wheel. |

I gathered a bunch of people's specs from their setups on M roadsters/coupes a while back and this is what I came up with. If I remember right the number in () is the difference in MM than stock. Note + is sticks out further.
One other things and it is just personal preference, but why if you are about to spend money on wheels would you buy something that requires spacers? Most wheel companies have a range of offsets to pick from. I also think that TireRack has the ability to build custom 3pc OZ wheels by mixing and matching hoops and faces. Take the following as just guidance as some numbers might be wrong or fat fingered etc. our original wheels are the following size F 18 x 8 ET42 R 18 x 9 ET30 The original E46 M3 CSL wheels fit really tight with the following specs: 19x8.5 ET44 (+4) 19x9.5 ET27 (0) E90/92 M3 Wheels 18x8.5 ET29 (+19) 18x9.5 ET23 (+13) 19x8.5 ET35 on 245/35 (+13) 19x9.5 ET22 on 275/30 (+14) 19x8.5 ET35 on 245/35 (+13) 19x10 ET25 on 275/30 (+18) 18x8.5 ET35 on 245/40 (+13) 18x9.5 ET22 on 275/35 (+14) 19×8.5 ET34 on 245/35 (+14) 19×10 ET26 on 275/30 (+17) 19x8.5 ET30 on 245/35 (+18) 19x10.5ET25 on 275/30 (+25) MCoupe with Blue Work Meisters 19X9.0 ET35 (+20) 19X10 ET17 (+26) TireRack BBS LM Fitment 19x8.5 ET32 on 245/35 (+16) 19x10 ET25 on 275/30 (+18) |

Also just something to note is that most 275 tires, while still approved for a 9" wheel, will hang past the rim a bit. You will probably find most people running that tire size on a 10" wheel.

I run 275 on the stock rim and it looks perfect.
