19x8 +30 and 19x9 +30 on a Non-M

Hey guys,

I've had a set of 19X8.5F +35 and 19X10R +35 (massive lip on the rear) fit before. Tires 235/35 front and 265/30 rear.

Will a set of 19x8F +30 and 19x9R +30 fit a non-M roady? If so, should I go with 265 or 255 in the rear? TIA

i think the fronts will sit flush while the rears might have a little poke. im pretty sure your gonna need to stretch the tires as well.

I'm considering a set of Wedssport SA-67R, but they only come in a +30 offset.

BTW, what's the offset on your wheels? I recall Bobby saying +32?

Dont know yet. The wheels are not going on th e car until late March og beginning of April. Wondering about this too since they theoretically do not fit my car. Im shaving off some millimeters on the inside centre.

I have some Michelin PSS ready. 235/35 and 265/30.

Tough call, my 8.5 rears are 42 offset with 12mm spacer effectively making it a 30mm offset and it sits pretty flush. Another half inch might be the max but I'm sure if you rolled the fenders it'd be ok. But I'd stick with a 255 to be safe.

Thx Dub. BTW, will I have any issues of severe rubbing with the fronts. I have a feeling the rears 19x9 +30 = 19x10 +40. Does that mean the .5 inches in width = +5 in offset?

I really like the Wedssport wheels. Very light weight...19 lbs front and 20sh lbs rear.

a 19" x 9.0" et30 does not equal a 19" x 10" et40

0.5" = 12.7mm

using an 8.5" et50 as a starting point...

installing a 9.0" et30 will move the outer edge of the wheel towards the fender line by 26mm (1 inch) and produce 14mm (9/16") more inner clearance to the shock. this is the exact same as putting an ///m rear on the car.

installing a 10.0" et40 will move the outer edge of the wheel towards the fender line by 29mm (1-1/8") and REDUCE inner clearance by 9mm (5/16").

either install will require an increase of negative camber to sit flush with the fender line.

the new setup will be less aggressive than the one you noted in the first post, but just barely. 235 tread in front may rub close to lock.

v3.0si, sounds like you know a lot about wheels . So, will a set 19x8F +30 and 19x9R +30 fit my non-M. If so, what tire size do you recommend. I really want these wheels .

this post shows what the 224m looks like when installed on a non-///m before rear camber adjustment or lowering...

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=344535

and this is the same car after lowering and camber adjust...

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ht=urban+green

next is a post from the brits...

http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic....849&hilit=et35

it's not exactly your wheel sizes, but they are very close. "dav the wheel nut" uses 8.5" et35 in front, which protrudes 1 mm farther than an 8.0" et30, and 9.5" et35 in rear, which protrudes 2 mm farther than a 9.0" et30. note he does not give any pics showing protrution on the wheel and tire set, probably because it sticks out quite a bit. also he says he used a 225 tread width in front. i concur with his reasoning and also recommend a 255 tread width for the rear. these sizes are less expensive, easier to come by, and perfect for full economy. heck, 225/35r19 and 255/30r19 are stock for the 335is which is a much heavier and longer car. really, unless you plan on tracking the car, there is no reason to go wider. obviously a wider tire looks better, but unless you're made of money, why put up with the headache of going through tires like you would toilet paper after creole? farther on down the post is "gookah's" car. he's also running the 8.5" and 9.5" et35 all around, and you can see how severe the camber is in the rear after lowering in order to get them to fit inside the fender line.

i'm pretty sure the weds will look very good, but i'm also sure it's going to be very "aggressive".

Misterawa: Do you have a picture of you old/current setup that showes how the wheel sits? Did your rear wheels touch the fenders?
If your 10" ET35 with 265 fits without rubbing my will fit too I guess. Have you rolled the fenders?

here's a pic of 10.0" et40 (bbs ch) on stock suspension and max neg camber. it does stick out from the fender line. lowering coils or aftermarket camber plates could bring the top back in, but it would chew through tires super fast. notice the tires are already stretched for clearance.

Another thing regarding the Wedssports, the front 8x19s should work fine. they will only extract 1mm more than my current setup (9x19 ET44) I only have a minor rub in the plastic wheelwell just behind the side reflectors when I really push it in the corners.
As for the rears they will retract 1mm if you compare it to a 9.5" ET35. I know bmwZ here on the board is running that spec in the rear.
So all in all you should be fine with that setup

Heres mine with 9x19 ET44 front AND rear. 235/35 and 255/30.

StigJ, sorry, I only have side views of the old setup. The 265s didn't rub at all with the 10" ET35 wheels. Thank you so much for calculating the fitment

v3.0si, thx for all the calculations as well . I agree, it's gonna be an aggressive set up. What do you guys think about the following tire option

215/35/19 F (I'm considering this to hopefully reduce the rubbing)
235/35/19 R (from the front of my old set up & trying to save $ on buying new tires). I've seen people run 245/35 rear before.

Let me know what you think...thx again you guys

Hmm... If your setup didnt rub at all I should be fine with ET37 then. Now Im wondering if I should try my wheels without shaving the senter....
But then again when I see the picture of v3.0si's Coupe Im a little confused.

10.0" et37 will be 20mm, or a bit over 3/4", farther out than what's in this pic (9.0" et44). the tire will over-lap the lip of the wheel a little, maybe 4-6mm, so keep that in mind as well.

those sizes will be stretched, but will work. i'm not a big fan of the stretched look, so if it were me considering this setup, it would be...

front = 225/35r19
rear = 255/30r19
