Auto Shipping 06 Z4si from Carriere MS to Chicago
Have got some quotes from U Ship for open carriers, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a reasonable enclosed car shipper?

Enclosed Vehicle Transport, I used them literally 3 weeks ago.
Also Horseless Carriage (most expensive) Intercity Lines (probably the best but a long wait to schedule) Western Auto Transport (also expensive) |

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum! Please post some pics when you can. Getting your Z for the first time is just like being a kid at Christmas again!

I just used Intercity Lines. It took about 2-3 weeks to schedule and then about a week of transport from Boston, MA to Austin, TX.
Honestly, it was a great experience and the guy was great! Cost me $1700, which was more expensive than other quotes I received. But, the car arrived perfect and that's worth the extra money in my opinion. |

Careful in the winter though - these cars with stock tires in the snow are like a hockey puck on ice. Probably best to stick her in the garage, apply copious amounts of wax and wait for balmy spring weather!

Maybe we should start a Stickied auto transport thread since it's such a common topic around here. Might help folks better compare transporters instead of having a new thread every couple months.

That would be a great idea. I made the mistake of asking for some quotes from the online shipping companies. I guess they all use the same software as I was bombarded with. email's , text's and call's with in minutes of posting.
And they just keep on emailing , texting and calling back, its nuts! I have had a few quotes from: American Auto Transport Allegiant Auto Logistics Nationwide Transport Services LLC AutoStar All seem to be in the $800 - $900 range. I have been reading some of the reviews on these and others and there all over the place. They are all brokers and not the actual delivery carrier which is another story. I'm no hurry to get it up here cause its winter and it will just go in the garage anyway. I guess the bottom line is if the carrier is properly insured. The seller has told me he would take photos and videos of the car just prior to it being loaded and also video while its being put on. So that should give me some peace of mind. Thanks |

FWIW here is some good reading here:
http://autotransportleads.blogspot.com/ Some of these companies are nuts, just keep on calling and calling. Do they think that calling and texting a person a million times if going to sway his decision. Don't think so! |

I just got mine shipped from Colorado Springs to NYC (~1800 mi) by Auto Shipping Group and I was very satisfied with both the service and the price. My first choice was Amerifreight based on their reviews, but they wouldn't promise delivery within a week. Lance at ASG not only matched their Amerifreight quote, but also delivered in 6 days. His email is lance@autoshippinggroup.com, although YMMV. They will match quotes from any 5-star rated company listed here: http://www.transportreviews.com/Repo...ldSilverBronze

Looks like I'm going with AutoStar, the reviews are good , price seems fair. Will book in the next week or so.
I must say after shipping motorcycles to here and from here all over the USA for the past 30 years I must say that most of these Auto Transport Companies (brokers) are a PITA with all the calls, text email's and claims that they are the best even when they have a BBB rating of F and thousand of complaints... Hope this works out ;-) |

Tried U-ship for close to 3 weeks and I actually got a better price with Autostar! online. I had the car moved enclosed, on Uship for some reason most of the quotes that I got were for non-enclosed even though I posted for enclosed shipping only.
With Uship also you would have to pay there fee as well as these exposed shipping quotes all wanted a additional $75 or so if you wanted your car shipped on top of the trailer vs below where they said there could be a chance that the car above could drip something on your car. The only bad thing is that when you post for a online quote with most any shipping company it goes to a general shipping online board . Once that is posted I was receiving call's text and email's 24/7 even after I had booked and even after the car was delivered, it was a royal PITA. On top of that the location of my car was in the middle of bumxxxk ;-) I would use Autostar again.. http://www.autostartransport.com/ |

Lots of good suggestions here, but I'd add A1 Auto Transport to the mix too. I'm surprised to hear that uship doesn't offer enclosed though. Reliable is okay, though I've seen some mixed reviews on here. I've also heard that DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) and AmPm Auto Trans are good options.

U ship does offer enclosed shipping, there is a option to check off when you submit your post. Even tough you do that you still will have hopefuls w/ open carriers trying to get your bid.
The trick is with the open carriers is that they want to charge you a extra $75 to put your car on the top so nothing car drip on it, for that money your very close to enclosed transport.. |

try plycar.com - you will pay more but their trucks and handling of your car are top notch.
I would also recommend Ovy (owner) from Deluxe Auto Transport at 602-373-8383 he took good care of my Z4m from OK to MA |

Maybe you'll end up on A&E Channel "Shipping Wars" if you do something to make the Roadster transfer television worthy - how, I don't know.
