2006 Z4 3.0Si Coupe Reliability?

Hello fellas,

So, I've been searching for a car that could be used for track, while I wont do much modification other than upgrading brakes...so I found a 06 Z4 Coupe, 3.0Si, Manual, 80k miles. Owner said that he had oil seals and cooling system service done. Just wondering how reliability these cars are? I will do oil change pretty often, simply cuz I go to track days, and I change my oil about every 3 track days. Do I have anything else to worry about?

Thanks!

There's a guy on here that tracked a 3.0si quite a bit. 3002 tii this is your thread!

I have a 3.0si but I don't track it. I've owned it 2+ years and so far all I've done is oil changes but to be honest it doesn't get heavy use.

EDIT: Oh and you've found a true unicorn. 828 3.0si coupes with manual gearbox were made for the North American markets.

Tracked mine for a good 4-5 years and never had any issues. Regular oil changes with annual brake flush and you’re good to go. The high output n52 came with factory oil coolers unlike the 325/328 so temps were never an issue. Common issues to look out for are DISA, Vanos solenoids, vcg, but those are all well documented and easy to fix.

My other concern is that I may wont hold the car for long, so when I need to sell the car, I believe this is not the car that I'm willing to sell to a dealership, just like KBB can't show the actual value of these. I will have to find the right buyer, unlike cars like Subaru BRZ, if I can't find someone to buy my car, I could still get a decent trade in value at Carmax I believe.

I have had my 07 3.0si Coupe (Manual as well) for 11 years and 96k miles now. Aside from routine maintenance and oil seals being replaced 2 years ago I have not had any issues. I don't track but I tend to drive a little more aggressively than average.

Good luck!

if he's replaced the gaskets and cooling syste, then it will be very reliable other than a water pump replacement somewhat soon. the N52 is a great engine!
