Z4 Hardtop Group Buy??
Hi, I've been trying to find a reasonable deal on a hardtop for my Z4M Roadster. I'm in WA state and most of the deals in the Roundel seem to be on the east coast. So here's what I found. Best price so far is in Los Angelos at $2711. But, they have 9.75% sales tax. I'm a few hours from beautiful Oregon and started calling dealers (I was only looking for myself). What it appears is I can find several that will go $2800 or so, but I thought maybe we can get a group and do a group buy. Mine is Saphirre Black Metalic and there are none in the USA. There are 23 of mine in Germany, so we are at least a month from getting one here.
Bottom line, I will take the lead and pursue this if I can get some genuine interest. I would expect it would be most of the money up front to the dealer and we'd have to road trip to OR to pick them up. I have the hardtop prep, but those that don't let me know and I can price getting that in on the group buy. They could ship the install kit to get it installed prior to driving to OR to get the tops. Let me know if you have interest and how serious you are and I'll start making calls. Thanks, Mike |

If you do get this off the ground some people will also need the hardtop prep parts.

customs would never know
Cheewy, I'd be customs would never notice you had a soft top going south and a hardtop going north..... That would be further incentive. Not much response, so I'll probably just go on my own.

how about a custom carbon hard top instead? Look like the 09 Z4 model? I'm trying to get one develop...but the fabricator is on the East Coast.

The Porsche Boxster has an aftermarket top that makes it look like a Cayman. If the Z4 Roadster had something like that, I'd switch teams (automotively speaking). It would be relatively simple, but like the Boxster you'd have to remove the rear trunk lid.

I'm interested but $2800 seems a bit high still...
I'm not sure what part numbers are correct but just doing a really quick search shows that $2800 is HIGHLY overpriced. Ask the dealer that you talked with if the 2800 is the group buy price and if any further CCA (car club of America) discounts apply. Part number 54210415369 (hard top) from Tischer is listed at $2378.00 54210415370 is $2378.40 (hard top) 54210390445 is $3227.50 (hard top) |

If anyone hasn't gotten this yet, I'm willing to drive down to Seattle if a group buy price could be attained. $3400 is steep, but it still saves me $1000 rather than buying it local. Or, if people from Seattle are going down to OR, if they could pick it up for me and I'd come down to Seattle to get it from you.
