I think someone said the stock electric m seats weigh around 50lbs?
Swapping to some Recaros or similar would save a good deal of weight. Probably one of the best weight savings we can do.

Then if thats too much work a lightweight batt and lighter wheels/tires would also cut down a fair bit.

lw battery is a good idea, a forum member is helping me out with the wheels (ssr comp h's), would like to get a uuc bbk before the end of the year as well

I'm glad you're sticking with the same seat. Racing seats are great for the minimal time you need them. Getting in and out of them is no fun whatsoever, even if very trim like me. I love my seats, and appreciate the power option for the perfect adjustment.

non-powered seats are significantly lighter

but heated or non-heated should be a difference of ounces not pounds

A good way to see if weight reduction is going to be more than just 'locker room' talk is to go to the track, road or drag, which ever you do. Make a couple of runs at stock weight. Then put a 10 lb bag of something in our car and make a couple of runs again. Compare times. Put a 20 lb bag of weight in your car and make a couple of runs, compare times. The time you loose by adding the weight should give you an idea of the time you might gain by reducing your stock weight the same number of pounds. Good luck.

I've never raced so this may be a totally stupid suggestion; I apologize if it is.

How about if you run with the gas tank only filed with what gas you need for each run? I assume gas weighs about the same as water, which is 1 kilogram per litre, or almost 9 pounds per gallon.

So for example, I think the car has about a 50 litre tank. If you only half fill it, you drop the car's weight by 25 kg or 55 pounds. Only quarter filling it takes that to about an 80 pound weight reduction.

Again, sorry if this is already common practice.

That is a good trick also. Might want to take an extra can with you to get you to the nearest station after the run.
