Volk TE37 18x9 et40 squared setup got Z4MC

Hello Z4 enthusiasts!

I am about to land on a deal this following week for an M Coupe and I was wondering what size of tires should I run with the squared setup. I want to run same size tires all around so I can rotate the tires. I will also be running a coilover setup, so any suggestion on coilovers are also welcome!

245 mm is about the largest you can get in the front.

can you not run a 255/35 or is a 35 profile too short?

I wanted to run 265/35 but I'd probably have to go -2.5 degree camber up front... Anyone running 265 up front?

a long time ago i saw a set of 265's for sale that were used in the front... i would imagine though that you'd have to run more than 3 degrees of negative camber.

I run a squared setup that size for track, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for street. As dorifto88 mentioned, you need like 3.3 degrees of camber in the front.

a square setup would be nice from an economic standpoint (i mean, when you pay for nice tires you want them to last as long as physically possible) but when i had 265's on all 4 corners of my g35, you can really feel the tire width at the wheel... steering in general becomes a lot heavier... i was planning on a square setup too but considering the stock (rear) tire dimensions to a 265/35 tire, i think i'd rather get 265 front 275 rear (if i wanted that much tire... which i dont lol

At first, I was planning to keep the TE37s for track use only and get my hands on another set of wheels. For the TE37s, I'm planning on going squared fitment and make the 265s fit, which fits perfectly on my M3.

But then again, I'd rather have a staggered set of wheels for daily driving, and that, I'm still undecided for which set should I go for. I'm not sure if I can go 19x10 with +25 offset on the rear... I want to make it have an aggressive fitment set of wheels, but not to the point where rubber meets fender. Inputs + opinions would be great!

I am running 19x10.5 and a +20 rear offset with a 275/30/19 tire and its fine with a 1 inch drop and at OEM height. I may bump up to 285/30 but may rub. Have to test it out.

I am also running a 19.8.5 +35 front with 245/35/19 tire. Of course the OEMs feel much better on the road but black on black looks sweet. I do switch back and forth from my 18 inch OEM E46 M3 wheels and Volks on my Z4.

You can make it work with those dimensions (4 x 9" / 18" / +40mm). I have the exactly same setup on my Z4MC with some OZ Ultraleggera's. Not sure if it works with a stock suspension, but at least with some coilover sport suspensions it does. I added a KW Clubsport to my car, went with -2.0 degrees camber at the rear and -3.3 at the front, lowered the car and it works great. No rubbing. No body work on the fenders needed. Spacers needed (15mm front, 20mm rear)

Tires: I fitted Toyo R888 Trackday tires 255 x 35 / 18" squared, which have a very wide tire tread of around 268mm (measured). In fact they conform to tires with 265mm width.

With all that, your car will feel completely new. It goes around corners at unbelievably high speeds (of course, with those R888's). But the best thing is the neutrality - understeer is totally eliminated! Exactly what I wanted.

I ran 18x9 ET33 with 255/40/18 tires up front for a while, the car was on stock suspension at the time. The tires came really close to rubbing the struts inside with about 1mm space.

18x9 ET40 may not clear the struts, you will probably need spacers for the front.

These are Vortex VT996 wheels in 19x8.5 ET35 and 19x9.5 ET22 staggered setup.
