Z4 M Oil change instructions?
Hi,
Was hoping to find some details with photos on oil change but after searching the best I could find was reference to an e46 oil change. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=351298 Prefer something for a M. Any help? Thanks. |

They are practically the same! One tip I have to offer is to make sure to fully insert the Hex/Allen wrenh before you turn the drain plug cause it is very easy to strip it

Put 5 liters in the oil fill and the last 1/2 liter into the oil filter housing before closing it up.
I didn't do that my first time and it made an uncomfortable racket for the first 15 seconds after start up. And in follow up to what Pheonix said, buy a spare Oil Drain Plug for $2.76 (+$5.00 shipping ). |

Try this procedure:
http://billswebspace.com/Z4MS54OilChange.htm Use oil filter kit P/N 11 42 7 833 769 which happens to be a Mahle OX 187 D with two O-rings and two crush washers. Do not buy the alternate MANN HU926/4X as it will not clear the intake manifold housing. I torque the oil cannister 13mm bolt to 33N*m (24 ft/lbs) and the 6mm Allen oil drain plug to 25N*m (18.5 ft/lbs) Quote:

Common wisdom is to change every 7500 miles, so you'll have to reset it every other time.
I usually use my Peake Research scan tool, but you can also get a knockoff GT1. Peake Research scan tool is handy to have in the trunk for SES lights while on the road. Knockoff GT1 is 1/3 the price, and hours of fun if you're into playing with software and want to run diagnostics and/or program optional features. Last edited by StickMon; 07-13-2012 at 01:09 AM.. |
