Exhaust question
Hi all,
New UK based member here in need of a bit of advice! So due to a bit of misfortune my centre pipe/x pipe (the part that connects to the backbox) has split and therefore needs replacing. As such, I figured this is a good excuse to go aftermarket and so... Thinking of buying the Supersprint centre pipe below: http://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/bmw...tre-pipe.aspx#! I currently already have the RPi GT backboxes and the rest of the exhaust system is OEM. The main question is will the Supersprint centre pipe fit with an RPi GT backbox? I have read in a few places that the Supersprint centre pipe is designed to be used only with the Supersprint backboxes, however I cannot find any dimensions for either the Supersprint or the RPi. Kinda hoping someone has already done the same set up and can provide a bit of advice! Thanks all, probably the first of many questions as I begin the slow and expensive modding process this year. correct, the SS center section (x-pipe ) does not mate up with any OE fitment back box.
you should be looking at the Rogue Engineering X-pipe, it will work. (I have owned both)

The alternative is to have a good muffler shop add the appropriate flanges to the SS piece to mate with oem style flanges - the lack of fitment is due to a different flange design, not due to dimensions. Most people do that with the SS mufflers to mate them to Rogue Engineering or OEM x-pipe.
I would agree with intgr8r and get the RE x-pipe. It's the easiest solution and will save you money and effort. I'm running SS race mufflers with RE x-pipe, and previously was running SS powerloop mufflers with RE x-pipe and oem x-pipe. Both sets of mufflers have oem-style flanges added. |
