iphone 5 compatible USB interface?

I'd like to create a simple wired connection of my iPhone 5 using a lightning to USB cable. I have an '06 Z4 M with DSP. I think the Dice based solutions might be overkill, and I don't need to control the iPhone from the interface. I just want audio out. And I want to avoid using the analog headphone out, and it sounds pretty bad compared with the line level out on the iPhone 4 (which the 5 lacks). So my solution would need to pull the digital signal from the iPhone, and convert it to line level analog with some sort of DAC.

I've been searching the threads here, looking for a solution. There's the Grom, and this adaptor. But I'm not sure either are compatible with the iPhone 5 lightning out. Can anyone confirm?

Reading the info on the adapter, it states its a socket only. So you would need to pair it with an aux cable kit. So it's not going to work as you were hoping. I have the Dice unit and as it gives you " hands free" capability for cell phone calls... It's well worth the money spent.

If you get the lighting to 30 pin adapter it should make the iPhone 5 work with any old iPod interface.

With that adapter just make sure you buy a real Apple one - the cheaper generic ones don't work.

The iPhone 4 had an analog line out at 30-pin connector, which was perfect for feeding car stereos. But of course Apple took that away - the lighting connector has only digital. So the digital to analog conversion actually happens within the adaptor, which is why they are so pricy. The Apple one has a relatively good DAC in it, so should sound better than aftermarket ones.
