Would you give up your z4mc for....
A Reno megane 265 top spec, or a 2014 golf r mk 7 if you wanted a new car?

As somebody who has owned about a half-dozen Golfs of various vintage throughout my life, including a Mk4 .:R32 - I can say with firm conviction - Oh HELL no!! I'd never give up my Z4MC for any Golf of any ilk.

Same here. I owned both the MK4-R32 and the MKV GTi (with stage 2 APR). They were both fun little cars but there is no way in hell i would trade my MCoupe for what the OP suggested.

I don't have a coupe but having been a former VW GTI/Golf R guy I can say that for a nice comfy do-it-all car, the Golf R is great. For a sports car or Z4M replacement... NO WAY!

I would it replace a Z4MR for almost any other car out there. The connection I have with her is to strong. I think only a Mclaren p1 could make me change my mind.

but would you trade your z4m coupe for a lotus exige?
(just to rise the stakes a bit ) Or only if it was an exige S? I mean a new megane r265 or golf R might be worth more than the current z4mc but that's just because they're new. Not because of their performance (although the megane 265 on the ring.......). An exige is a different story of course (but a totally different/dedicated car obviously)

I would consider an Exige S. Or a new C7 Z06.
Problem is neither would be a reasonable trade at this point.

Pretty sure my next car will be a Lotus.
Hopefully that won't be for another 5 years or so. Prefer a convertible in my climate.

No. Honestly I didn't like putting so many miles on the Z to and from work every day. Plus not much fun to drive in FL rain. So I just bought a cheap daily driver and have the Z reserved for fun driving only.

Hmmm. Must have been looking at the wrong spec sheet.
Unfortunately, not sold in the US. I'd like to see these on the road. Great looking car.

only for a 911, and even then, I think I'd rather delay the purchase and have both.
A few guys I work with have Lotus's (Evora, Exige, and Elise). They all say they're fun to drive, the but the build quality is absolute shit, and the dealer network is terrible. And when I say shit, I mean huge sections of the dash warping and popping off, suspension components breaking, totally unacceptable stuff like that. Absolutely beautiful cars though, I would love to own one if not for stuff like that. |

My answer is no. They are not in the same class as Z4MC.
A Golf R at stage 2+, makes more crank horse power and torque than the Z4MC. It might be faster than the M Coupe in certain condition but no way near as fun. To me, the Golf R is one of the best daily drivers in snowy MN. Not a replacement for M Coupe.
