The Z4M may not be the best at MPG, but it does beat every other car in SPM (smiles per mile).

I have only done 1 tank since purchasing the car but I was surprised I couldn't do better on instantaneous MPG on the freeway. I guess I was hoping to be able to get at least 23-24 MPG because of the 6sp. I average about 25-26 with my 2.5i but it has the 5sp and I'm doing at least 3000RPM on the freeway.
All said and done, though, my MPG requirement is somewhere above 18MPG. After owning an E39M5 and having trouble getting 18MPG mixed, I swore I'd never get another gas guzzler. It's not even the cost that really bugs me, it's just always being worried about gassing up that is bothersome. With that said, when I get some new wheels for the M Coupe, I'm not going to go for the widest possible, because I think I'd enjoy the better MPG and the quieter ride. In my experience, wide tires can be really heavy, and loud. Well... my 911 is running 10.5" rear rims so maybe that is why. It gets 16MPG now (about 18-19MPG on stock tires/wheels).

18mpg is about average. But I drive 70-80 on the highway. Got to ---- on the miles left for tank today. Was happy that I was still able to get to a gas station.

I've been DD mine for about 5 months now and since inspection 2 and filter changes I end up getting around 19-20. Sticks around 19.7.
This is with one spirited launch per commute (pretty much). |

No, but the calculations don't lie. Just did it yesterday on a highway run between Tampa and Orlando.
fwiw I'm running 265/35/18 all around which aren't that far off, maybe 3% or so. Maybe you should do a tune, headers and pipercross air filter....little more efficiency and more timing can only help mpg when you're not on the pedal. |

A US gallon is about 4 litres for the sake of argument and an imperial gallon (Canada) is pretty much 5 litres - with some allowance for rounding. So right away Canadian mileage is going to be 25% higher (yeah, 25%). Having said that, and comparing apples to apples, I get a very wide range. Between home and my usual morning destination in stop and go traffic I get 17l/100km (under 14 mpg US). Driving to my second destination at a steady state of 60-70 mph (no, strike that.... more like 50 mph.... geez, what was I thinking...) on the highway I get 9l/100km or just over 26 mpg US. Of course the latter translates into 31.5 mpg Imperial which makes my coupe sound very fuel efficient indeed. I just wait until the engine is warm, slap it into "sport" and start grinning. I don't think too much about the $6/US gal "summer gas price" - bumped from the equivalent of $5 just a few days ago. Yep.... smiles per gallon. I like it. |

Im not sure how many I get per gallon but one thing I know my home 16miles away from school and 12 from work. That all I drive daily and full tank is lasting me around 4.5 to 5 days only. It is just epic crazy and gas price is not helping.

You might get 25.5 MPG if you are driving like a granny with mostly downhill roads.
Not sure how accurate it is but the MPG is 20.6 on my dash (for over 10k miles now). |
